Unfortunately, we find the world today at the threshold of much greater dangers. These include a looming global financial and economic disintegration, a renewed commitment to the actual and first use of nuclear weapons, and we face an emerging shock wave on the biological front as the spread of starvation around the world created an ideal breeding ground for new and old diseases. More than two decades ago Lyndon LaRouche had predicted such an occurrence, and had warned against the dangers that the world is now facing. He was able to give these warnings by understanding the fundamental dangers of the policies that were pursued. Nor has Lyndon LaRouche ceased to intervene on the global scene with counteracting policy proposals, in an effort to save our civilization and humanity from the certain impending doom which the present policy lead to.

While Lyndon LaRouche is still facing the wrath of those who profit from the conditions that have created the various crises we now face, there is a growing awareness unfolding in many circles around the world that there are no acceptable alternatives to his proposals. Whether humanity is spared the agonies of a new dark age in which the population levels will dwindle to very small numbers, or to zero in a nuclear war, depends on the success Lyndon LaRouche will have in the near future to be once again in a position where the necessary policies can be enacted. Should he be successful, our lives may be spared once again. If not, our future may be bleak, because there exists no commitment among those who control the world to reverse the policies that have brought us to the brink of doom. Actually, whether or not Lyndon LaRouche will be successful depends on us all. We all live in this world together and shape our common course.

Lyndon LaRouche has many faces. He is without a doubt the most slandered and reviled politician of the twentieth century. He is also one of humanity's greatest patriots, and one its greatest scientific geniuses.

In terms of his personal history, Lyndon LaRouche is a veteran of World War II. He served in India where the inhumanity of colonialism was probably among the worst in the world. It may have been there, in India, where his resolve developed to do something meaningful to improve the human condition, especially the stark and totally unnecessary poverty that has been created in many nations. It may have also been his background as a scientific thinker, which caused him to recognize quite early in his studies of the principles of physical economy that the policies that were being pursued by the United States government, and those of the western world, were moving totally in the wrong direction. They were trending towards the conditions for the physical disintegration of the economies and societies around the world, the escalation of wars, and the eventual collapse of the world-financial system. All this is presently looming on the horizon.

Lyndon LaRouche also recognized that the same insanity that was evident in the economic area, was moving the world ever closer to a rapid realization of a nuclear war that would destroy humanity. That's when he intervened. His idea for solving the cold war crisis was actually a simple one, based on some rather fundamental principles. His intervention consisted of three elements.

The first element of his idea was to propose the creation of an active defense system based on new physical principles, such as beam weapons. This approach was necessary in order to create a system that would be a magnitude more efficient than the weapons delivery systems in penetrating defenses. LaRouche's idea was eventually accepted by President Ronald Regan, who announced it to the world as the proposed Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI).

The second element of LaRouche's idea was his personal intervention in the cold war era, that got him engaged in back-channel negotiations with representatives of the Soviet Union. He proposed that the Soviet Union and the western nations should join in a common effort to develop the SDI defense system for the benefit of all nations. This might have been the key element of his proposal, as it would have created prosperity throughout the world by advancing scientific and technological development. But more important than this was the cooperative atmosphere that a joint development effort would have created, which would have established a platform for unity where deep divisions ruled the day. The Soviet representatives really liked the idea at first, although it was later rejected.

The third element of LaRouche's idea was the one that made his intervention fail proof. As he told the Soviet's, it didn't really matter what they would choose, because the cold war would end in five years in either case. He specifically warned them that if they should attempt to develop on their own the type of system that was proposed, their economy would collapse in five years under the burden the effort would impose.

The collapse that he had warned about promptly occurred as forecast. The economic collapse also brought to a halt Marshall Ogarkov's infamous plan for a winnable nuclear war against the West, which was in the preparation phase when the Soviet Union disintegrated.

Contrary to popular claims, it wasn't any form of political maneuvering, inside and outside the Kremlin, that ended the Soviet era. All these were after-effects of the economic collapse when sector after sector of the country stopped functioning. It was LaRouche's parameter alone that overburdened the Soviet system, which thereby may have saved humanity from the inevitable holocaust of a rapidly escalating cold war. Still, is was not a clear victory, because divisions remained that the cooperative development of the SDI system would have resolved. Nevertheless, the world was changed for the better.

This change in the course of humanity was caused Lyndon LaRouche. It was caused by his idea that introduced a new parameter in the economic equation which the Soviet Union was unable to respond to, by which its empire fell apart. In this way humanity escaped a holocaust that it, itself, was unprepared to respond to, and still is. The collapse of the Soviet Union may have ended the cold war together with the Ogarkov plan, but the vast arsenals of nuclear arms that stood ready to be unleashed have remained intact, both inside and outside of Russia, while new nuclear weapons are still being built every day as if more than 30,000 of them are not enough.

LaRouche's intervention may have saved humanity out of a critically hot situation, but the building of a platform for unity and economic development throughout the world, which were evidently the central elements of LaRouche's proposal, remains yet to be achieved. This may also be one of the main reasons why Lyndon LaRouche is still fighting in the political arena to inject some sanity into the political scene that is ruled by a greater insanity today than it was during the cold war years. The two key elements that are essential for avoiding a nuclear war in the long run, are global economic development and the development of unity which is fundamental to all. Nothing else will save our civilization and humanity with it. Like a broken record, Lyndon LaRouche has pointed this out again and again, especially in recent years, as the situation has become incredibly more precarious.

We live in a world toady in which investors steal from each other as they fight in the financial markets over the few scraps that are left, that represent something of the physical economy. We have created a world that is incredibly divided, torn by ethnic turmoil, countless wars, terrorist actions, most of which are lavishly financed by the West for the West's selfish narrow reasons. We live in a world in which most nations have become so isolated into impotent entities that they can no longer protect their own existence against predatory powers. Russia has lost 80% of its industries by this process of globalized stealing, and is loosing a million people a year through starvation, and starvation induced diseases as the industries no longer exist that once supported them. But most of all, we live in a world in which the financial system that is supposed to support the economy, has looted and collapsed this economy to a level far below what is required to maintain a civilization. By this collapse in physical terms the system's super inflated financial values have become essentially meaningless. All this means that we have the terminal phase of four major systems coming together. We have the physical and biological system collapsing into poverty and pandemics of rapidly increasing virulent diseases. We have the political world destabilized by countless wars and divisions, with a trend that is fast moving out of anyone's control. We a have a financial system in the world that has become meaningless by its own self-destruction, which like a bubble is doomed to disintegrate into a spray of fine mist that blows away with the wind. And to top it all of, we sit on top of the biggest arsenal of nuclear weapons ever created, while the chorus of those who propose to use these weapons, and to use them first, is growing by the day.

But what is humanity's response to this threat, the biggest threat in its entire history? Its response is to do nothing; to led the catastrophe unfold. Humanity's response to unfolding crises has always been like that. It saw the developments towards World War I, but reacted only after the war erupted. Humanity likewise saw the developments towards World War II, and again, it reacted only after the holocaust erupted, and then struggled to put the fire out at an enormous cost. Humanity has grown up in a reactionary more. The problem is, that if this trend is continued humanity will not survive the next fire that it is presently contend to let erupt. The nuclear fire will end human existence. The presently unfolding biological holocaust may have a similar effect, an effect worse than the black plaque in 14th century. The impending world-financial disintegration will also usher in its own type of a new dark age, which may last for many decades to come, which most of humanity cannot survive.

The point is, we simply cannot afford to continue to live in a reactionary mode when processes unfold that cannot be reversed. The parameters that we live under today have totally changed from those that governed the scene during World War II. The fires we prepare today cannot be put out again with a reactionary response once they erupt. A reactionary response is no longer an option. We have no choice, but to change our responses in accord with the new situation we are in if we wish to survive in the long term. Let me illustrate this point with the story of a bird.

There existed a species of birds in North America that had developed a unique reactionary response to predatory attacks. Whenever a bird was attacked and injured, the entire flock would group around the injured bird to protect it from further attacks. This reaction had served the species well for all the thousands of years of its existence, but it didn't protect it from the farmer's fire arms. The farmer would only have to injure one bird, the rest would group around, then he could fire at will. By this failure to change its response, the entire species was doomed to extinction. It became eradicated in a few short years. Of course one cannot expect a species of birds to change its defensive response that has been developed over millennia, but one can certainly expect humanity to achieve such a feat. Humanity is the brightest stars of intelligence in the living universe. It should certainly be capable of changing its response to new situations from a reactive mode to an intelligent mode, as this has become necessary today. This is what Lyndon LaRouche is proposing as a necessity to protect humanity and its civilization from an otherwise certain doom. Lyndon LaRouche's policy proposals must be understood in this context.

Unfortunately, humanity is not accustomed to think in terms of policies that are based outside the traditional reactionary platform. For this reason LaRouche's policies are rejected even if they are necessary, and virtually no one stands up in his defense when the man is slandered, reviled, imprisoned, and otherwise persecuted. Still, the urgency of what must be accomplished demands that he fights on, which he does.

Evidently none of the current world leaders even recognize that there is a crisis unfolding, since they continue with the same policies that have created the crisis in the first place. One must assume, therefore, that these leaders are in effect criminally insane, or morally unfit as they lack the intelligence that is common to man. Unfortunately, their irrationality appears to be contagious since the public loves their irrationality, which thereby demonstrates the public's own insanity. This, fortunately, is not a natural trend, but one that has been carefully cultivated by the controllers of the media who desire such an outcome for their own agendas. One can only hope that this cultivated general insanity is temporary like a deep sleep that a person can awake from at an instant. Such a shock caused awakening has happened before in history, when Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese fleet, for instance. On this single day the population woke from its slumber and the nation was changed. Except, even this response is a reactionary response again which is inappropriate in the nuclear armed age, or at the time of other approaching crises with similar consequences.

Lydon LaRouche is fully aware that a reactionary response is inappropriate for everyone of the crises looming ahead. This is clearly reflected in his many policy proposals which are designed to head off the eruption of the greatest catastrophe ever. Still, it may take a major eruption in the financial arena before humanity wakes up to the reality which it presently refuses to acknowledge in its dreamlike existence. Lyndon LaRouche hopes that a second Pearl Harbor type shock will accomplish what intelligent reasoning should have accomplished years ago. But when this occurs, it will be humanity's final opportunity, if indeed it will not be too late by then. No one can predict how much time remains from the eruption of a world-financial crisis until the total disintegration of the system occurs. One thing is certain, however, the shift from the reactionary mode of response, to an intelligent mode of response, must be accomplished before the disintegration begins, or a nuclear war begins, etc., because our present civilization, and perhaps humanity as a whole, will not survive the consequences if it fails. The destructive effect of a shock wave generated by multiple major fronts collapsing at once lies far beyond any reasonable chance for a reactive recovery.

In respect to LaRouche's first intervention for saving humanity, when he offered the SDI as a joint development project to the Soviet's, the Soviet Union elected to refuse his offer. In other words it refused to respond to what was necessary. Consequently it collapsed and ceased to be. Humanity has the same option in responding to today's crises, with the same outcome. The present period is hypercritical for making those right choices that will avert the otherwise inevitable. For this reason Lyndon LaRouche is proposing that the present world-financial system be put through an orderly bankruptcy reorganization, since it is bankrupt already, in order that the core elements of it can be saved. He warns, however, that this must be done before the whole thing disintegrates.

A proposal of such magnitude may seem preposterous. It would certainly keep the courts busy for years, haggling over who gets what of whatever real wealth may still exist in the system. The tragedy is that the system has decayed to such a point that LaRouche's drastic measures are nothing more than the minimal response necessary in order to save what is left as a means for keeping the economies operating, to assure that pensions continue, that food, fuel, transportation, power, water, and communication systems continue to be available, and so forth. When the financial system disintegrates in a chain reaction collapse, most of the essentials for human survival will at this point become unavailable. The physical supply infrastructure, which is generally called the physical economy, ceases to function, when its supporting infrastructure, the financial system, ceases to function. When this happens people will die. It happened before, and is happening already again on a smaller scale in Russia and Africa and other deprived nations where millions of people die every year from the causes of austerity induced starvation. This is what Lyndon LaRouche hopes to prevent on a total and global scale. People can't live without food, heat, water, and transportation. The present attitude among those of the ruling circles who see the crisis unfolding, is to scramble and save the wealthy and to let the common people die. There is presently a 'drop prevention' committee operating in the White House whose task it is to keep the stock indexes artificially high by such tricks as flooding the market with newly created money in an attempt to maintain the illusion a while longer that the stock indexes represent true value instead of hot air. The evident goal is to make the system last till after the U.S. elections in Nov. 2000.

Lyndon LaRouche suggests that this may not be possible by any means, not should it be done, because every day of delay to do the right thing, makes the consequences harsher. He proposes as a first necessary step towards creating stability again, to set up a new Bretton Woods type international financial agreement that reestablishes fixed currency exchange rates between the nations. This step is necessary in order to take the national currencies out of the gambling arena. Such a type of agreement had originally been set up during a conference in the town of Bretton Woods, New York, under the direction of President F. D. Roosevelt, near the end of World War II. The world-financial system that was created out of this agreement served as the backbone for the economic boom of the postwar period. This period became one of the great periods of prosperity of the last century, that was finally killed in 1971 when speculators demanded that the nation's currencies should be degraded into gambling chips for wringing out profits by a new breed of 'commodity' traders.

Lyndon LaRouche also proposes that the people of the USA and other nations establish for their nation a national central bank that issues low cost credits for infrastructure development and industrialization which enrich the nation as a whole. The presently operating, private central banking system, with its outrageous profit demands, makes these types of development projects totally impossible to finance, even if they are necessary for the nation.

On the international scene, Lyndon LaRouche proposes a return to the principle of sovereign nation states as a platform for creating peace through development, rather than maintaining a precarious peace in the shadow of countless wars as is happening today through the imposition of austerity measures and the West's financing of terrorism.

Naturally, LaRouche's proposals are immensely demanding in terms of what needs to be accomplished in order to save the lives of humanity from the impending doom of either a nuclear war or a collapse into a long period of dark ages, which in either case only a few people will survive. Still, the demands of our time, that the present situation requires, are equally as demanding on him. At his age in the mid seventies he still finds it necessary to fight an election battle for the office of the President of the United States of America in order to accomplish what must be accomplished, as there are no competent contenders.

What are his chances for winning the election? Under present conditions he has no chance. Mr. Al Gore virtually 'owns' the Democratic Party which has declared itself to be a private club with the right to decide whose votes to count and in which manner. Under this banner LaRouche's elected delegates are barred from the caucuses and some of the votes cast for LaRouche are counted as votes for Al Gore. The right for the party to do this has been recently upheld by the Supreme Court. In essence, the democratic principle has been thrown out of the window in the USA, by the Democratic Party. Under such circumstances LaRouche has no chance. But circumstance can change, because people can change. One must assume that even in the Democratic Party some people may still aspire to the principle of democracy who may act to revitalize the party.

Whether Lyndon LaRouche succeeds depends entirely on the support he get at the grass roots level of humanity. Actually one should rephrase this sentence. The truth is, whether humanity succeeds in giving itself a chance to survive the unfolding crisis and continue its civilization, depends entirely on its commitment to support Lyndon LaRouche. It may sound crazy that the future of humanity depends on one man. Indeed, LaRouche got angry once over this vulnerability, since people in key positions such as his, usually get assassinated. "You have no right to be so stupid" he is reported to have said in essence about the present society's lacking response to its needs, "that the responsibility of dealing with this crisis falls on me alone, because of that."

Actually such situations have existed many times in history when the intervention by a single man has changed the world. Still, this is not a healthy situation since the same holds true in reverse for assassinations. This is the reason why assassinations occur. This is also the reason why Lyndon LaRouche was railroaded into prison on behalf of the Soviet Union. There exists documentation that the request for his elimination came from the Soviet Union.

In the final analysis, today's situation is as it is. Indeed, it is not a healthy situation that so much depends on a single man as we have it today. Still, there is no one else on the political horizon who understands the unfolding forces as deeply as he does, who understood them even thirty years ago and had warned about them then. Few, today, even acknowledge that there exists a crisis. Still, one has reason to hope that Lyndon LaRouche will be successful in saving humanity again. One can notice a slow awakening to the crisis throughout the world, because of LaRouche's tireless efforts. Unfortunately this awakening is happening mostly in foreign lands. This spark, however, may become a flame, a flame that lights the torch for victory in a race gallantly run. But the real victory, if it occurs, will then be ours. We will celebrate the survival of our civilization if LaRouche succeeds once again. This time he will not be imprisoned as before, for saving humanity.

Lyndon H. LaRouche Jr. (born September 8, 1922) is an American political figure, and a perennial candidate for US president. While he associates himself with the Democratic Party, he has never been that party's nominee for office. He is a candidate for 2004 US Presidential Election.

His political views are extremely controversial and are characterized by his belief in a number of complex conspiracy theories, involving global plots to establish a frightening New World Order. It is good to see why his view is so controversial, and is because he question the aximatic dogmas that the academic dominant opinion try to impose without demostration. He shows that is metodological incorrect to think in terms of categories like to say "The USA atack Iraq" and think in terms of a country is who making it, but rather we have to identify the persons who are doing this and to what personal or groupal interest this action obeys and why.

He has a powerfull view of human history from the point of view that human history is all about the figth of ideas, and that ideas determinate where the society goes. He distinguish two pilars of ideas that are the foundation and origin of the two diametral oposed conceptions about human kind and that determinate almost all the other conclusions of human thinking depending on the idea you choose: the Platonic view (who see the man diferent than the animal) and the Aristotelian view (who sees man as another animal).

He has thousands of publications about classical science and classical art, but the primary field of Larouche writing is fisical economy.

He is also building a youth movement to recover the most powerfull classical ideas in the science and art, an to make a political action to build a world free of war, violence and poverty based on the principles of liberty (mean free will), the rigth to live, and general welfare, as the preamble to the USA constitution states. He promotes the defense to the national sovereign states, all of then acting based on a community of principles.

From my point of view he is being the inspiration to many people on that exist an alternative in this corrupted world, and inspire the historical indiviual to act politicaly to the search of the general good, to act like really a human.

The Complex Domain

The germ of all his political views is an understanding of what he terms "the complex domain". By this, scientists such as Carl Friedrich Gauss and Bernhard Riemann mean the domain of the universal physical principles, or natural laws, pertaining to both science and art, the interaction of which with man's sense organs produces the apparent, but paradoxical sensible universe. The resolution of such paradoxes by the method of creative hypothesis and proof-of-principle experiment, is the source of all knowledge.

From this platonic understanding, LaRouche identifies the only true political conflict, as that between oligarchism, which declares man a kind of domesticable herd animal, and government based on the general welfare, which declares him made in the mental image of the Creator. In the latter, the only efficient agenda is the development of mankind's characteristic faculty for discovering, transmitting, and employing universal physical principles.

In December of 1988, LaRouche was convicted of conspiracy and mail fraud in regards to the methods used by his organization to solicit approximately $34 million in loans. He was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison in Minnesota, though he was given a early release in 1993 after serving five years. He ran his 1992 Presidential campaign from prison.
