==== Abuse admin rights by {{user|Dbachmann}} ====
The full protect on ] is a clear case of admin abuse to me. The protection was not requested according to the procedure to protect a page. There was no serious edit warring involved and the protection only serves the content dispute of the administrator. Please unprotect, or reverse to the version that corresponds to what has been discussed in TALK first. ] (]) 03:16, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Semi-protection, temporary Apparently everyone thinks they're a comedian. A-HAW-HAW-HYUK. Mostly minor petty vandalism by incognito users, and some minor issues with the actual naming of the character, though it has likely been resolved at this point. 4chan (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

semi-protect with no foreseeable expiry. Frequent target of vandalism with no end in sight. Due to the nature of this community (notice that even the article itself attests to the community's propensity for "raids" and death threats) it is, and will forever remain, a target of constant vandalism Lengthy Cat (talk) 22:55, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

    Holy Father (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protect This diambiguation page has sources, but they have been ignored by a specific user. The IP address was the same, so if blocking that user is not in anyone's best interest, protecting the articles "Pontiff" and "Holy Father" is the least I would ask. Also, I would like to mention the fact that I have notified this user on his/her talk page of the Misplaced Pages Policy against adhomimem criticism, however he/she appears to have ignored that policy. I have also responded WITHOUT personal attacks in the edit summaries for several times (look at this). I have another request for another article -- the next one -- but it has the same issue. Sorry for the long edit — it has been a little irritating. ~ Troy (talk) 19:54, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. The user has been warned, but if the issues continue, please let me know. Jmlk17 01:30, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

    Pontiff (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protect This diambiguation page has sources, but they have been ignored by a specific user. The IP address was the same, so if blocking that user is not in anyone's best interest, protecting the articles "Pontiff" and "Holy Father" is the least I would ask. Also, I would like to mention the fact that I have notified this user on his/her talk page of the Misplaced Pages Policy against adhomimem criticism, however, he/she appears to have ignored that policy. Edit summaries this user has put in were either blank or, more recently, insulting. For example, this user has repeated claims such as this and that. In that last link — that was were he/she seemed to have crossed the line -- he called me a heretic. For that reason, this user should not be allowed to be disruptive OR edit aggressively in these articles. Again, sorry for the long edits, this user has been too disruptive for me to explain in a single sentence. ~ Troy (talk) 19:54, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. The user has been warned, but if the issues continue, please let me know. Jmlk17 01:29, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

    Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

There is no freaking way this noticeboard should ever have been protected. Anon editors are frequently discussed there...how are they supposed to explain their actions or contribute to discussions if the noticeboard is protected? Current requests for significant edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

unprotect. This is just the documentation for the script. Thanks. Rocket000 (talk) 05:06, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Declined reasons for protecting were "javascript page outside user space". Page is of widespread usage and wrong code may lead to serious problems for many users. Better safe than sorry. PeaceNT (talk) 07:55, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
No the reason for protection is incorrect. This was protected by mistake. As I said in my request, this is not a userscript. It's just the documentation. This is getting old. Rocket000 (talk) 13:23, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
I mean the template itself is not even locked up... Oops, I guess you're gonna lock that up too. Rocket000 (talk) 13:30, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
All the same, it contains the userscript that is supposed to be used by copy&paste. If you feel there was a mistake, please contact the protecting admin for clarification. PeaceNT (talk) 16:50, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

    Misplaced Pages:Requests for adminship/Daniel (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Remove full move protection. It is in the wrong place, should be number 2. The admin reversed my move as "nonsensical", and claimed it broke hundreds of links, which it didn't. The only sensible thing is having RFA 2 with a 2 on the end. The only thing I can think of it he's trying to hide the fact he failed, by having his first RFA in a subpage. RFAs are never done like that, so please unprotect and let me fix this. Redrocketboy 16:27, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
