Courtney Love (born July 9, 1965) is a singer and guitarist for the band Hole and occasional model and actress. Love is the widow of Kurt Cobain (1967-1994), singer in the band Nirvana, with whom she has one daughter, Frances Bean, and is the granddaughter of Marlon Brando.
In her early career Love modelled a 'baby doll' look, which she may or may not have ripped off of Kat Bjelland of Babes in Toyland. Love's style has since evolved, and she has modelled for more sophisticated, designer labels.
Love attempted to begin a 'punk rock femme supergroup' during summer/autumn 2001 called Bastard. Hole broke up in 2001, amidst continuing litigation. Love in October 2001 performed in some solo shows as an opening act.
