I ♥ Wikipedians

If you are reading this, it means you are not reading an article. It is quite possible that you are more fascinated by Wikipedians than Misplaced Pages. If this is you, take heart my friend. I enjoy userpages too and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Take this quiz if you are not sure:

1. When on a wiki page, is your first instinct to see the discussion? If yes, continue...

2. When on the discussion page, is your next click on a username? If yes, continue...

3. Do you copy/paste userboxes from that particular user more than 50% of the time, or find yourself reading their talk page and checking out their contributions?

4. If yes, than take comfort in who you are, and be glad you're not the other.

Origins of My Username

Among many other places, you may likely see my name in the AfD logs as nominator and "voter". I really enjoy obliterating articles or obliterating nominators, always with good cause, and always with good taste. Please note, though, my username, Keeper76, has absolutely nothing to do with my propensity to either vote keep, (or delete for that matter), for any particular article.

Keeper has long been a pseudonym of mine and was borne long before Misplaced Pages was. It does not mean I'm one of these, or these, or these, or these. I'm also not a bookkeeper, although it's one of my favorite words because of the triple-double (ookkee) in the middle. I have not read or written this or this and I am most certainly not a brand name of one of these. A new one, recently christened by new user (and confirmed sockpuppet) LST421listens that I hadn't thought of: No, I'm not a Trapper Keeper.

My favorite Misplaced Pages quote relating to keeper comes from Keepers (Mass Effect):

"Attempts to communicate with (keepers) have been fruitless, and they seem to be genetically programmed to carry out complex tasks. It is unknown if they are sentient. Upon capture or analysis, they release fatal acid destroying themselves."

The 76 also has no meaning or importance to wikiworld. Don't misconstrue it to mean age, aka age, DOB, number of arrests, or IQ. It also doesn't signify that I am necessarily a fan of these guys, or any particular element, or any particular song, year, gas station, highway, nebula, film, newer film, painting, flag or ship for that matter. All incorrect assumptions on your part. Is it possible that it is completely random? Yes it is! Cheers!

Some days

Some days, I don't edit. But I'm still on Misplaced Pages. Usually, if you check my contributions, you'll see a day or two go by without a significant edit. What am I doing? Reading! Reading! Reading! Have you ever just spent time reading the articles and learning about obscure subjects and following "linki-trails"? It's good fun. Anytime you see my daily edits consisting of a spelling correction here and there, or perhaps no edits at all, it means I'm having a reading day instead of an editing day. If you really must know my edit count...

Edit 2000, 3000

I haven't been watching that closely, but I just completed (15Nov2007) my 2000 edit here. Ah, the life of a gnome...

And today 21Dec07, I've completed number 3000. Have I mentioned how much I like AfD?
