Sir Denis Forman (1917 - )

Born in 1917 at Cragielands in Dumfries and educated at Pembroke College Cambridge University, Forman had a distinguished military career during the war before moving into the film and Television industry. He was Director of The British Film Institute (1948-1954) and later Chairman and Managing Director of Granada Television, he was also the director of the Royal Opera House in London.
