Please provide a verifiable source for your assertion that the Cincinnati Red are not descended from the Cincinnati Red Stockings. That descent is widley held "common knowledge." The wording I have makes more sense and I don't say the mlb started in 1869 I say they are the first mlb team and cincinnati was home to the first profesional baseball team..meckstroth.jm (talk) 10 February 2008 (UTC)
You are correct about the current Reds not starting until 1882. However, I must point out (although I am not going to change the year) the current Reds take their name and some their traditions from the original Red Stockings.
