Catherine Tate is a British actress and comedienne, whose BBC2 solo series of 2004, The Catherine Tate Show, received wide acclaim.
Tate was born in London and made her television debut in 1994. She appeared in comedy series such as Big Train, Wild West and That Peter Kay Thing before being given her own show, which she co-wrote with Darren Litten.
In 2005, Tate appeared in West End production Some Girls, alongside Friends actor David Schwimmer. The play also starred Sara Powell (Silent Witness), Lesley Manville (Vera Drake) and Saffron Burrows (Troy). In an interview, Tate commented that she could not look Schwimmer in the eye during her time with him, leading to speculation that the pair did not get on.
