Alex Germains is the lead singer and guitarist, as well as the co-songwriter and co-producer of The Mountaineers. He was bass player in the band Echo and the Bunnymen from 2000-2001.

He has also produced and remixed songs by other Liverpool bands, including The Cuckolds and 28 Costumes.
