Misplaced Pages:Requests for adminship/Trampikey 2
Can we sort this out to give the candidate a fair run? Best that we revert to 3 supports and no other comments. Pedro : Chat 23:03, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Since when is that my decision? Anyway, the only non-support comment that actually affects the outcome is your oppose – Gurch 23:06, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- I know - I cross posted to everyone as it's getting out of hand. You know (I hope) I respect your judgement, but I can't start removing RfA comments out of hand. Pedro : Chat —Preceding comment was added at 23:13, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Sorry
Sorry if that caused any trouble. But there'll always be a special place for Gurch in the community. ;) Rudie M. (talk) 23:33, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Reverting Portal's TOC
I have reverted your edit from "Culture and Arts" back to "Arts and Culture" because according to Misplaced Pages:Portal/Directory, the correct category is Arts and Culture. OhanaUnited 03:14, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, but according to the actual location of the template, it's "Culture and the Arts". You will have to take it up with The Transhumanist – Gurch 12:50, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
AN thread
Hi Gurch. Would you have time to contribute at Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard#The next step? I presume it was you that made this wiki-tech mailing list post at 01:39, about 25 minutes after the Main Page deletion and history merge by East718. What I'm interested in is how you found out about this? Do you know what communications were taking place? If you could shed any light on this, that would be great. Carcharoth (talk) 15:54, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- How did I find out about it? Er... the Main Page was deleted. It's the sort of thing that gets noticed – Gurch 17:13, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- Oh. I suppose so. I'm still trying to work out why this seemed to be discussed for a while off-wiki before finding its way on-wiki. Different cultures in different areas of Misplaced Pages, I suppose. Carcharoth (talk) 17:15, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- And I've asked the question more explicitly over there. Carcharoth (talk) 17:19, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

suggestions for Huggle
I just got Huggle today and it is awesome. I've never used a tool that reverted vandalism this fast! :)
However, I have a few suggestions for Huggle:
- more built-in warning templates - the current ones are fairly generic; there are times when more specific templates (like {{test1a}}, {{bv}}, {{test4im}}, or {{comment2}}) would be useful
namespace filtering- the ability to filter edits by users (e.g., show only IP edits)
- the ability to filter edits by risk (e.g., show only large content removals, users editing other editors' user pages, or suspicious insertions of text (see next suggestion))
- a regexp-based filter for detecting edits with common vandal strings (e.g., "!!!" or "fuck you")
- a split-window view for reviewing multiple edits at once
- a real-time list of edits in the queue (like in Vandal Fighter)
- a pause/unpause button
- compatibility with other skins, not just MonoBook
That's it for now. I hope that you'll take these ideas into consideration! --Ixfd64 (talk) 01:19, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well, that explains how you've been beating me so many times today, Ixfd64. :D You're another huggler!
- So, I just came here to report what seems to be a glitch. I figure it's also a suggestion, inasmuch as I suggest bugs should be fixed, so it's going in this section.
- Gurch, what do you think happened with this AIV report of a user who hadn't received any warnings? I got a notice about reporting complex abuse regarding that. It seems strange that huggle would report the user with only two edits to go on. Tuvok 08:39, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- PS: I should mention, absolutely wonderful tool!!!1!!1!!!oneonesixfivefourseven... (:P) It's bumped my edit count a few thousand already, and I feel a very nice sense of power over vandals when I can revert, warn, and report them all with one button. I hope you keep developing it!
- PPS: Ixfd64, take a look at Misplaced Pages:Huggle and go to the configuration section. There are options to ignore namespaces via the huggle.css page.
- Thanks. I guess I was too lazy to read all that documentation. :P --Ixfd64 (talk) 23:32, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Featured sounds
I noticed that you have participated in Misplaced Pages:Featured sound candidates in the past. There are now two candidates and the project appears to be abandoned. If you could look at the candidates and vote it would be appreciated. Zginder 00:34, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
Help the noob
...well, the n00b at Huggling anyway.
I logged in after saving my CSS page, and I see no edit source box. Kinda funny really, 'cuz I've got all the requirements (Vista, .NET 2.0, and the subpage). Where's this "edit source" you speak of? Also, how do I open this awesome-lookin' window once I've found it?

Huggle Issue
I keep getting this message when trying to log into huggle: "Failed to load page. Check internet connection and availability of Misplaced Pages." I have no Idea what's wrong. I've used it before, and Obviously wikipedia and my internet are okay, seeing as I'm sending you this message right now. I tried re-installing it, and re-starting my computer, and I still can't get huggle to work. What do I do? Dadude3320 22:29, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- I've had the same problem before. Try switching to MonoBook if you're using another skin. Huggle doesn't seem to work with other skins right now. --Ixfd64 (talk) 23:04, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- I've always used MonoBook though, and I still am now. Dadude3320 23:32, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- Here's what you can try: Go into Internet Explorer and delete your Temporary Internet Files (or whatever they call them in IE7). I entered an incorrect password once and I had to clear my cache to get it to work again; perhaps this is another caching issue... Tuvok 02:42, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- Cleared my Cache on FF and IE. Still not working. Dadude3320 15:47, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Huggle bug extending AIV reports
Lately when huggle is extending AIV reports, it pastes a link like http://en.wikipedia.org/Oceanside%2c+New+York?190533250, missing the diff=
part. Tuvok 03:04, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Wiki ads
Hello,
I have noticed that you have been creating several Wiki ads which I found quite impressive. However, may I ask you what software you used for creating them?
Cheers!

Huggle bug
There is a bug that i found on Huggle. If the internet connection has been reset while Huggle is connected to the IRC feed, and i close and restart huggle, it doesn't show back up the recent changes feed. One way to prevent it is to add a function as a alternate nick like h_party2. --Party! 17:15, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- I've got one too for when you come back (until then, have fun, take a well deserved break, and great job). If a user has been reported to AIV, admins will not get the block interface on user with a test4 warning. Prodego 14:20, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Do you actually show up in IRC when you're using the feed for Huggle? Keilana| 17:16, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yes. If you enter "/server irc.wikimedia.org" in any IRC client, and then once connected, "/join #en.wikipedia", you can see the list of names in the user list sidebar (or if your IRC client does not have one, by entering "/names #en.wikipedia"). Currently, for example, h_andonic is using the IRC feed. irc.wikimedia.org is unique in that you can't actually send channel messages to the server, only receive them, and so you couldn't chat or anything. Help!
Hi, Gurch. I can see that a lot of rollbackers are using Huggle nowadays, and has gotten me interested in it. I went to my huggle.css subpage, which was empty at the time; I entered "enable:true" in over an hour ago. I have an XP, an account, and I also downloaded the .NET Framework 2.0 thing. So after I entered it in, nothing happened. I feel like I should need more introductory information about using the software, since you're the creator of it.
Another question: When you're logging in, is the username and password for Huggle the same that you enter in on the normal Misplaced Pages? SchfiftyThree 19:05, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- You need to get the Huggle program, currently in private beta, so you will have to email gurch to request the executable file. huggle.css is only a substitute for an options prompt in the main program. And, since you are logging in to your Misplaced Pages account, you enter the same information as you would enter logging in to Misplaced Pages regularly. --FastLizard4 (Talk•Index•Sign) 19:13, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
I accidentally blocked VoABot II by accident while using Huggle!
I just reverted some vandalism on French language and was given the option to block to block the vandal, but I accidentally closed the window. The user vandalized the article again, and I tried to block the vandal before reverting the article. However, VoABot II beat me to the revert and I clicked the "block" option right after that, causing me to accidentally block VoABot II.
Could you please change Huggle so that it warns administrators if they are about to block (or revert) a whitelisted user? Thanks. --Ixfd64 (talk) 00:27, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Robert Cook (Engineer)
Why'd you make this into a redirect to a disambig page? Are *any* of those people engineers? He was listed on requested biographies, and that doesn't seem to be a fulfilled request, IMHO.
