Aloha! Welcome to WikiProject Hawai‘i. We are a board of editors committed to the proper exposition of information about Hawai‘i and Hawaiiana throughout Misplaced Pages. Our primary goal is to research and provide the most accurate and detailed information about Hawai‘i and the Hawaiian Islands, its history and its society, its people and its places, its culture and its spirit. This mission is accomplished in our writing without regard for our personal biases, professing an obedience to neutrality in language, ideas and thoughts while respecting the diversity of opinions on each article subject. Our end is to educate all visitors to this academic and encyclopedic forum.
Through the creation of WikiProject Hawai‘i, we aspire to improve all articles already written related to Hawai‘i and the Hawaiian Islands. WikiProject Hawai‘i is a means of focusing our collective efforts. Also, past disputes over the use of the Hawaiian language and its alphabet in Misplaced Pages articles inspire us to unite in the diversity of our backgrounds and ideas, to come together to develop and codify a standardized manual of style for use in these articles and all future articles. Such a standardized guideline is necessary for proper comprehension and enhancement of the flow of unity of information provided from all subjects in the family of Hawai‘i-related articles.
If you are interested in participating in this ambitious and important work, we encourage you to join our board of editors and consider this your principal resource center for Hawai‘i-related articles. To participate in WikiProject Hawai‘i, please list your user information below. After you have done that, browse through the subpages and to-do lists provided and choose a project you can take upon yourself. You may also want to start a project of your own. Further inquiries about WikiProject Hawai‘i should be added to the discussion page.

Articles
- I've been meaning to update Hanauma Bay since I last returned in April 2005. However, I am waiting on film to be developed, and I'd like to do some research on which wildlife is present. There is also a species of wrass which is endemic only to Hanauma Bay. It would be good to mention that. Also, that the park is closed tuesdays, also that there is a discount ($9?) for Kama'aina. - There are beaches on the leeward coast of O'ahu I would like to add content on. However, since the area is generally so poor, they are poorly marked and maintained. Perhaps a local could go out and have a look at the intersection of Maili and Farrington hwy, north of Ko'Olina, and figure out what that is. I've got a lot of pictures. It's also part of the (forgive me if I get the name wrong) Honolulu County Beautification Project. Which might, in itself, deserve an article. Avriette 10:29, Jun 11, 2005 (UTC)
- I'd like to add an article on the Kaena Point Satellite Tracking Station (on O'ahu if that wasn't apparent). There is some information available from USAFSPC on the internet, and I've got pictures from my trips out to Kaena. Additionally, there is a military reserve (read: firing range) right up the road (south) which could probably use an article. Naturally, have lots of pictures of that, too. - added a stub with a (not very pretty) image. I'd like to have a couple pictures of the radomes they have on top of the mountain there, but I am (again) waiting on film. If anyone would like to expand this, there are some sources on the intarweb. Avriette 13:31, Jun 14, 2005 (UTC)
- Need the full name of Joe Moore. --Gerald Farinas 22:52, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Images
- Need individual photos, preferably official headshots, of the Governors and Lieutenant Governors of Hawai‘i and Mayors of Honolulu. See the WikiProject Hawai‘i Almanac to link to those articles. I most covet photos of Eileen Anderson, Nelson Doi, James Kealoha, Jean King and John H. Wilson. --Gerald Farinas 17:46, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)
