Maher Mofeid "Mike" Hawash is a Palestinian-born American engineer now serving a 7-year prison sentence for conspiring to fight against U.S. forces in Afghanistan. He was arrested while working for Intel and became a cause celebré while awaiting trial, since the evidence against him was at best obscure. However, he later admitted guilt and got a light sentence in exchange for testifying against some of his co-conspirators.
