| A blend is the linguistic combination of two words. A "Portmanteau word" would require the two words to significantly overlap in their original form. i.e. the classic choice for Carroll - slithy, which is lithe and slimy. They overlap with three letters, which covers the center syllable so you cannot tell where one word begins or ends.
