BSA

The formula you added to body surface area looks remarkably like the Dubois 1916 formula. Isn't it amazing that we are using data from almost 100 years ago to prescribe potentially highly toxic substances? JFW | T@lk 20:42, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

According to my graphical calculations, they are not quite the same. There is just a tiny smidge of a difference, with the NCI formula being just a little less throughout the curve. This is compared to the Mosteller formula which intersects the Dubois line. Like I said in my notes, I read it right out of a National Cancer Institute protocol (a pediatric one!), though it does not actually have a drug involved. Yes it is odd that we still use BSA as measurement, but it seems to work fine, and nobody's provided a better idea so far.Legitimus (talk) 20:49, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Repetition compulsion

You have added a list of publications in the Repetition compulsion article with the summary References added-in spades! Special thanks to Dr. Joe Kiff.

Now I removed this listing and when it was reinstated today I removed it again. I have explained myselve on the talk:Repetition compulsion. Maybe you want to take a look over there. Thanks. -- Mdd (talk) 21:08, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

I wasn't the one who put the list back, it was 76.180.79.125, who is not me. I agree with your moving it, since I didn't know that long lists like that were not allowed. Sorry about the confusion. Legitimus (talk) 01:21, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your response. I know it wasn't you. But I was under the impression that you know the person who did this. I guess that was the person who delivered you that list in the first place. But maybe I am mistaken about this. Good luck. -- Mdd (talk) 01:23, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
I have no clue who it is. And he was not the provider of the list, that was Dr. Kiff, who goes by the handle "Lifeartist." He provided this list to the Psych Wiki counterpart to this article. Psych Wiki does not have the same policies on references, so I mistook that they would be useful here. Legitimus (talk) 01:34, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Ok thanks. -- Mdd (talk) 23:04, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Child Sex Abuse Question: #1

Hey friend, you offered to help me in my question? Right? --Akemi Mokoto (talk) 15:38, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes, that was me. That article is very hot-button right now, but I don’t mind helping folks looking for answers. Anyway, to answer your question about orgasmic function, the short answer is “no, they don’t.” Many people do not realize that most women (not men, mind you) cannot orgasm before the ages of 18-22. The biological mechanism has not fully developed until then. Now, there are exceptions, and there can be a broad range, some very young. For a very young girl (under 13) this is most often observed in masturbation, and is both rare and usually a sign of a chaotic home life. They are trying to sooth and regulate emotions, albeit primitively. Having sex at this young an age, is of course, very harmful, though the symptomatology is varied. And it does not matter what their sexual response is. This is a whole can of worms, so I’ll stop there.
I admit, the majority of what you see in any porn is unrealistic anyway. I should ask too, do your viewing habits bother you at all? Legitimus (talk) 19:19, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
