This is a list of islands in freshwater lakes, sometimes known as inland islands.

- Manitoulin Island in Lake Huron, Canada - 2,766 km² (1,068 sq miles)
- Vozrozhdeniya Island in the Aral Sea, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan - 2,300 km² (888 sq miles). Became a peninsula in 2002 due to the shrinking of the sea, so no longer appears in rankings.
- René-Levasseur Island in the Manicouagan Reservoir, Quebec, Canada - 2,000 km² (780 sq miles)
- Sääminginsalo in Saimaa, Finland - 1069 km² (413 sq miles)
- Olkhon in Lake Baikal, Russia - 730 km² (282 sq miles)
- Samosir in Lake Toba, Indonesia - 630 km² (243 sq miles). Further holds the record for being the largest island in a lake on an island
- Isle Royale in Lake Superior, United States - 541 km² (209 sq miles)
- Ukerewe Island in Lake Victoria, Tanzania - 530 km² (205 sq miles)
- St. Joseph Island in Lake Huron, Canada - 365 km² (141 sq miles)
