Anil Kapoor (born 24 December, 1959) is an Indian movie actor. His brothers are director Boney Kapoor and unsuccessful actor Sanjay Kapoor. He is also distantly related to the famous Kapoor family of actors in Bollywood.
Anil Kapoor started his movie acting career with the movie Woh Saat Din (Those seven days), although he had acted in minor roles earlier. After several other movies, his career took off with the blockbuster Ram-Lakshman in which he co-starred with Jackie Shroff. Riding on the success, Anil acted in the 1989 hit movie Tezaab, along with Madhuri Dixit. He also acted in several other movies including Mr. India, Lamhe, Parinda, Kishan Kanhaia. He gained critical acclaim for his role as a freedom fighter in the 1993 movie 1942: A Love Story. His recent hit movies include Judaai (1997) and Taal (1999).
While a major icon of the 1990s, many Bollywood observers believe that Anil Kapoor's career is currently in a slump. Kapoor has recently been trying to make a comeback, most noteably with his new film, My Wife's Murder.
