In the ] movies, '''Assassin Droid''' is quite a vague term. Across the galaxy there have various models of droids that have been either built or modified to kill.

In the weeks preceding the revelation of the Grand Army of the Republic and the outbreak of the Clone Wars, presented in ], the bounty hunter Zam Wesell used a brown, floating model of assassin droid to set poisonous worms upon Senator Padmé Amidala of Naboo in her Couruscant apartment. This model of assassin droid proved to be very well programmed. When its assassination attempt was foiled and the worms were killed, the droid attempted to flee the scene when ] jumped out a window and latched onto it. Aware that it was floating miles above ground level, the assassin droid scraped walls at soared into traffic lanes in wild attempts to knock its unwanted rider off, all the while attempting return to its master. In Episode V, IG-88, one member of a group of assassin droids that destroyed their creators, was recruited by the Empire to hunt down Han Solo. IG-88 had only a short time on screen, and in the end Solo's capturer turned out to be Boba Fett. (Update needed)

In Star Wars Battlefront, the Assassin Droid (or Droid Sniper) serves the Confederacy of Independent Systems alongside the upgraded Super Battle Droid, the Assault Droid (Droid Demolitions), the Droid Pilot, and the Droideka (destroyer droid, wheel droid). The Confederacy's assassin droid model uses a ] to pluck off unaware enemy ] at far distances. Assassin droids are also equipped with a ] to defend itself from infantry close by. Though they have a fast firing rate, blaster pistols are relatively weak, and more often then not turn out to be the wrong weapon to use in tight spots.
The Assassin Droid also carries an ] which can scout its surroundings at high speeds. The Recon Droid is quite weak, can be destroyed with a few well-placed blaster hits, and has a weapon that appears to be less strong than a blaster pistol. To compensate for these weaknesses, the Recon Droid can become a target of an orbital strike from capital ships in the upper atmosphere. This kamikase-like attack is devastating and can be used to eradicate multiple enemy forces at once. However, keeping the Recon Droid out of harm's way during the five-second countdown to the strike is another story.

In the Star Wars universe, an Assassin Droid is a standard battle droid that distinguishes itself from its counterparts with its sophisticated targeting programme.
The Assassin Droid serves the Confederacy by using sniper rifles to dispatch enemy infantry at far distances. The advanced targeting intelligence allows the droid to utilise the simple BAW-E5 Sniper rifle to its maximum efficiency. Something far greater then the Clone Marksmen of the Galactic Republic. To supplement its capabilities, the droids are also equipped with a blaster pistol to defend itself from infantry close by. In addition to this is an Akrayd Recon Seeker Droid which scouts the surroundings for droid forces.
