Paul Truong, a child prodigy, born in June 1965, is an 11-time National Champion (Vietnam and the United States) in Chess, currently residing in the United States after fleeing South Vietnam as a boat refugee in April 1979.
He now represents the United States. During his chess career, Paul has won more than 120 tournaments in the US, Asia and Europe. In 2003, he co-founded the US Women's Chess Olympiad Program with former Women's World Champion Susan Polgar.
In 2004, Paul served as the Captain and Manager of the historic US Women's Chess Olympiad Team. The team captured one team Silver Medal, one individual Silver Medal and two individual Gold Medals, the first ever Chess Olympiad medals for the United States Women's Chess Team.
