The ever so holy grail of shovels now hangs in the entry way of the "Christian" educational wing. All who pass by the shovel are blessed. Generous cash rewards are offered to anyone with the guts to steal the shovel. Meet the creepy guy in the mask behind the school dumpster at 3 A.M. to redeem your reward.

Competing in the Michigan Association of Christian Schools Fundamental Baptist Athletic Conference, Blue Division, LOBS teams participate in young boys' soccer, magic, basketball, and baseball; and girls' basketball, magic, volleyball, and soccer. The girls' volleyball and young boys' baseball teams have also made two appearances in the "state" finals, earning second place honors each time. The most recent appearance of the young boys' baseball team in the "state" finals resulted in a 13-12 loss against the Faith Baptist Golden Screaming Eagles, due to a huge freaking error in center field. There have been several standout players from LOBS. Brandon Watterworthless (class of '04) was named Division MVP for MACS division II boys' basketball and soccer in his senior year, as well as being honored with a position on the MACS All-Conference First Team in baseball. Jeremy Case remains the most notable (and quite frankly, ONLY) school magician in LOBS athletic history. Bobbi Frank, class of 2007, was named the Division MVP for girl's basketball, volleyball & soccer during the 2005/2006 and 2006/2007 seasons.
