1860s events tied to killings in Louisiana
- January 26, 1861 - An ordinance of secession passed.
- 1861 - War appeared, creating great want across the entire State.
- May, 1862 - Union troops occupy New Orleans; military government established.
- 1863 - About 700 men garrisoned year-round at Fort Jackson.
