== Tunisia flag ==

Some things I have noticed. I do not doubt the construction sheet given for the flag, but I am having a very hard time trying to say where in the law is the exact color shade of the flag. My French isn't great, but I didn't see anything from the laws. For the variant section, I suggest adding the President's color, which can be seen at ]. The flag is mentioned in the Article 4 law, so you can easily write about it. Still haven't found the book yet by Dr. Smith. ] <small>]</small> 05:34, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Mischief makers

Since Moreschi is on vacation, I'm also copying here. I'm at the end of my tether. Misplaced Pages can't let Bharatveer (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), now joined by SPAs, hold up productive work on pages Michael Atiyah and Kerala School. They have tried to create new pages Raju-Atiyah case (AfD'd speedily), start various discussions here and there to keep a bogus issue alive. I resent that I, as a knowledgeable editor in the field have to waste so much of my time in engaging mischief-makers, who in real-life I would never have time for. Very depressing also that a notorious editor, under ArbCom restriction, can get away with so much on Misplaced Pages. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 23:02, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Many thanks for looking into this. Best regards, Fowler&fowler«Talk» 18:32, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

RfA Thanks

Thank you for participating in my RfA, wich was successful with 73 support, 6 oppose, and 5 neutral.

I'll try to be as clear as I can in my communication and to clear some of the admin backlog on images.

If there is anything I can help you with, don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page!

Asdreni

He appears to have been evading his block as Cajupi (talk · contribs). What do you think? Perhaps we should take this to the CheckUser page, but the only problem is that it might be attended to by the time his original block has already expired. Maybe a better option would be either to ask a CU directly and/or semi-protect the page. Khoikhoi 20:03, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

I think this IP and this one might also be him. Same articles, same edit pattern. --Tsourkpk (talk) 22:31, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

My RFA

Thanks for participating in my RFA. While you didn't support me, I understand your concerns, and I will try not to shirk hard decisions. If I can help you with anything, you know where to find me.

Cheers!

Azerbaijani violinist

With all due respect, but the name of the category "Azerbaijani violinists" is misleading. What does the term "Azerbaijani" mean?

  • Someone, who has an Azerbaijani citizenship? Well, Asriyan does not have an Azerbaijani citizenship.
  • Azerbaijani = born in Azerbaijan? Then why don't we call it "Violinists born in Azerbaijan"? I offered this option at the very beginning.
  • Azerbaijani = being ethnically an Azerbaijani Turk? Then how come Asriyan appears there?

I would suggest renaming the category to something more appropriate. Also, please be advised that many ethnic minorities (most of whom, are actually the natives of the lands that currently are included in Azerbaijan), are against them being called "Azerbaijanis" because they feel that "Azerification" is the continuation of the same policy of forced assimilation that has been in use since the creation of the first Azerbaijani state back in 1918. Atiyah

Hi Nishkid64. Thanks for your comments on the living bio noticeboard. I understand your criticism about lack of mainstream media attention. My question, already raised on the RS noticeboard, is that (1) if you look through the talk page, no one had disputed the facts; that Atiyah was informed of Raju's work and yet approved the publication of an article claiming credit for an idea that he himself judged to be very promising. (2) there is a strongly worded petition signed by 35 very eminent academics that clearly supports Raju's allegations of academic misconduct.

The logic behind using mainstream media as an RS is that an editor or a journalist puts his/her reputation on the line. Here, 35 academics including Ashis Nandy, Vandana Shiva, Sumit Sarkar, Tanika Sarkar, Harish Trivedi, MGK Menon and others have stated that there seems a prima facie case of misconduct. To my mind this is far more reliable than a mainstream media source. However, perhaps Misplaced Pages's policies are the opposite and only a mainstream media source is acceptable, not a petition signed by eminent academics.

I have repeatedly asked this question on the talk page and not received an answer. I did receive an answer on the RS notice board but that was based on a misreading of my original post.

Perhaps you have an answer to this question. Is it only the mainstream media that is reliable? Or does a petition with signatories far more eminent that you are likely to find in a typical newspaper also acceptable? thanks,

P.S: If you have an answer to this question I would appreciate if you would post it on the RS notice board where I have raised this question. While I am grateful for your friendly advice, I am a bit disinclined towards long bilateral conversations here, on my talk page or on yours. thanks again Perusnarpk (talk) 13:59, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

POV in Indian articles

Hi there is an IP address probably from India which is wreaking havoc with some of the Bollywood articles. See his contributions. He persistently keeps adding POV to an article or glorifying an actor or film further than they or it actually is. It is a major nuisance for the editors on here who work on Indian cinema articles to have to keep reverting him day in day out just to maintain some sense of article neutrality. He has been warned many times and his persistence has resulted in edit conflicts on more than just a few articles. Could you please warn and/or block him and try to make him aware of wikipedias neutrality and why his edits which are intent on putting POV or glorifying the subject of the article unnecesarily may be construed as against policy and therefore vandalism. Its doing my nut it keeping track of him. User:Shshshsh (Shahid) raised my awarenss of it initially and other editors such as totalfilmi99 have to keep reverting him e.g here. Should he be blocked do you think? This is an exmaple of the kind of crap he keeps putting in articles ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ 17:02, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Timeline of Félix Houphouët-Boigny

Yo Nishkid. Just thought you want to know I've created Timeline of Félix Houphouët-Boigny, similar to other personal timelines (Timeline of Jane Austen, Timeline of Mary Wollstonecraft, etc.) It's really a mess right now, but I think we can take this to FL. --I'm an Editorofthewiki 18:45, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Nevermind, please delete that page. It would be redundant anyway. --I'm an Editorofthewiki 19:06, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
I don't care, the article currently isn't ready for FAC, it still needs a peer review, but GAN is the first step. Perhaps we should bypass GAN on Leon Mba, then? --I'm an Editorofthewiki 21:15, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

translation

I'm looking for someone to translate about three sentences of French for me. I see a place to request an article be translated, but not just a snippet, so I hope you can help. I get the gist of the first sentence, but the rest defies me. - Outerlimits (talk) 02:20, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Yes, thank you, that helps very much. (Though I still can't tell if it's true, at least I know what was alleged :) ! - Outerlimits (talk) 01:54, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

For protecting the Phir Hera Pheri article. Frankly I don't have that strong feelings about the article and the film itself (which I honestly did not like), it's just that emphasis, POV and attempts to defame something make me angry. Apart from that I'm extremely busy these days so it's difficult to follow things consistently. I think we will be able to solve the problem later with a talk page discussion. Thanks again, Shahid15:33, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for locking Phir Hera Pheri

Yes, I'm glad this is locked up as well. At least the current entry gives some credit to the original movie rather. I'd rather this than have to undo everytime I see someone else blatantly vandalising the page almost every time the original source movie is mentioned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zhanzhao (talkcontribs) 08:44, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Ivorian Barnstar

The Cote d'Ivoire Barnstar
I Blofeld the Bald award this to you for your outstanding effort at writing a full and highly resourceful article on an Ivorian subject and for your hard work on Africa in general. This is exactly the sort of content that I rave about and try to get onto wikipedia in parts of the world which should quite rightly be equally covered as America and Europe. What this article does is address the subject almost as if it was written from an Ivorian perspective looking out at the world as "America and Europe=other" rather than Africa always being "the other", something very rare on wikipedia. This is exactly what wikipedia should be striving to do across the world, being written as if it was from that place rather than an Anglophone perspective. I congratulate you for having been one of the first people to really achieve this on an African subject in such a detailed way. If only we could get all of the articles up to this standard. Congratulations! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ 12:44, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

You're welcome. It does however need a major copyedit which is understandable as it was translated from french. I have left my general view of what needs to be sorted at the peer review. I would recommend mergin some of the latter sections with the main body and moving his death section nearer the bottom. The in African politics in my view addressed many of the subjects which should be covered in the main body of the article rather than after his death. If you could find a way of merging some of them to give a highly comprehensive main section this would imrpove it considerably ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ 13:11, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
