Kulpahar

I would like your opinion on modified Kulpahar article, if it can be assessed as B-class article??--Rohit Saxena (talk) 20:41, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Also check Allahabad and Kanpur articles, they lack citation and reference but still rated as B-class article, why? Should these articles too be downgraded to start-class?--Rohit Saxena (talk) 08:30, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Chak De India

Have a look at this communique. Interested? (after you are over with RDB maybe!)--Dwaipayan (talk) 06:28, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi! As noted above, Dwaipayan suggested that I contact you about the Chak De India article. It still needs quite a bit of work before it can reach GA status. This will happen, I believe, if more editors contribute to it. I'm currently on a semi-wiki break but will be checking in every once and awhile. If you are not interested in this article, perhaps you might know of some other editors who might be? Thanks, -Classicfilms (talk) 08:36, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Ok, thanks I understand perfectly. I'm on break for at least this week but when I come back I'll keep your suggestions in mind. At the moment, Dwaipayan has said that he'll work on it as well when I come back. Good luck with your other articles. -Classicfilms (talk) 14:31, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

One bit

Hey sorry for not having responded... I'll keep copyediting and leave comments on the talk page in a few days. I'm just very busy at the moment. My name is Shahid23:41, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Copyedited "Reviews". Please check and tell me what your opinion is. Apart from this, I just can't understand what the last review means, "Time Out comments (changed it from 'says') that the film's "... narrative meanders, but the film evokes... (?)"
Very awkward. Please elaborate. Shahid00:23, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi good work. There are still some awkward phrases that are a little out of place. In some parts particularly the early production I think you idscuss some things which aren't really focusing on the film itself, part of it reads like a biography of the film director. Certain sentences seem to jump out and seem totally out of place. E.g is it necessary to mention that "Domalpalli's father was a dam construction engineer". With each sentence you need to think about how does this enchance an understanding of the article at hand? Anything which doesn't should be left out, thats my rule of thumb. Naturally we need to mention the early events that affected the nature of the film but I feel you can cut down on some of the more intricate details. It is actually pretty well written overall but could do with a little work rephrasing. The awards section was very difficult to read and I had to split up many of the sentences to make it legible. It is necesssary to mention every single award it garnered, even if it isn't all that worth of note? Things like the "Golden Goat Award" even if a notable award to most readers this may question its notability. Also what about music? Did the film have a soundtrack. Perhaps you could elaborate on this, and having a theme of dance perhaps you could examine a little more into how the choreogtaphy was conducted in the film and how she was trained rather than just saying "a whole year". I also added an image, I think of the girl and her mentor.

A vital ingreditent I think that is missing is an examination of the cinematic techniques used by the director and actual devices used in the structure of the film. What techniques does he use in certian scenes, lighting, camera angles, panning in and out, sound, expression, landscape, juxtaposition etc? How do certain scenes in the film evoke pathos, such as the rape etc. and how does the director construct the final scenes where she gives up her baby? Emotional dialogue, silence what etc? If you could write another strong paragraph on cinematic tecnhiniques and style and focus of the film from a cinemagraphy viewpoint I feel it would develop greatly and understanding of the film making. Unfortunately most film articles I see on wikipeda even many FAs don't do anough to take apart the film and critically analyze the filmmaking itself other than telling a story of its production.

Keep up the good work ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ 11:43, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Oh, didn't you find my comments useful? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ 08:37, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks friend rhanks for the kind words and barnstar. Yes the cinematic style is always good in the director article too, evne more so providing of course it isn't all original research and has some citations. A good example of an art film director where this is used is in Abbas Kiarostami. In a way I might have gone too far with examining his style to the point that the longer version even has its own article Cinematic style of Abbas Kiarostami!! But for him in particular it is very relevant. It would be good to see some more FAs on art film directors from India too. I'll take alook at the article in a few days to see how it has develoepd. Best regards ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ 13:03, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey! How could you forget me?? Just kidding hehe!! ;)
Well the Reviews section looks fine. It's important to make it flow brilliantly, and most of the reviews were presented as "X said, Y said, Z said", so I tried to switch these words and rewrite it more diversely. Blofeld took the words right out of my mouth in the above messages. He is amazingly precise, and it was exactly what I was mostly concerned about (some parts looked like the director's biography). I still have some comments; I'll present them some time later on the talk page (a bit busy now). Keep up the great work. Shahid16:52, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Right now I'm located in Melbourne, Australia.:) Yeh it is a big problem to find sources covering Indian cinema related articles - it was maybe my biggest problem with the Preity Zinta article. I was going through entire web search results, newspapers. Oh it was tiresome. But today, the newer a film is, the more coverage it gets on the net, so I think there shoudn't be a problem with this article. Shahid17:11, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

GAN of Sri Venkateshwara College of Engineering

The article already had a review, and it didn't meet the GA criteria. I really would like this article to be a GA, and would appreciate any tips you can offer. Thank you! - Amog | 09:35, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

YouTube link on Enrique Iglesias

Just to let you know, I have reverted your undoing of my edit (under a different IP address) because I believe the YouTube link is very relevant to the article.--92.40.88.133 (talk) 07:10, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Mspraveen, I'm guessing that you didn't see my message above before reverting again. Can you go into a bit more detail as to why you think the YouTube link isn't appropriate? Thanks.--92.40.88.133 (talk) 07:16, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
You replied to me saying "Please see this that shows that the links like youtube and similar ones cannot be added." No, it does not show that. It simply indicates that such links would infrequently abide by the guidelines and that allowance is on a case-by-case basis. Note that the section begins "There is no blanket ban on linking to these sites". Videos of songs by a singer are directly relevant to an article about a singer, so an easily-accessible external link is of value. Note that, for an online encyclopaedia, the external links are often what casual consumers are looking for.--92.40.88.133 (talk) 07:47, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Hi, for your info. I'm suggesting a change of policy re YouTube etc. here, and I've cited the above discussion as a reference point. Cheers, --92.40.88.133 (talk) 09:02, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

yeah this guy is too cruel on external links. Manojlds (talk) 12:35, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Graphology

The Graphology article has alternated between having a "Disputed" tag and an "Unreferenced" tag for most of its history. The references in the "validity" section of the Graphology article are reliable. The issue that 456hjk/IP Addres 190.51.x.x has with those citations, is that they are either research studies, or reviews of research studies, not opinion pieces. There are studies which do not support the claims of graphologists. Currently, the section on validity cites one study that supports graphology, and one which does not support graphology. Adding two more studies that don't support graphology to that section will correlate roughly with the percentage of studies that support each side. The second paragraph in the article does cite two studies that do not support graphology. Either those two articles can be cited again, or two more articles can be cited in the validity section, if an approximation of the ratio of articles that support graphology to those that do not support graphology, is desirable. jonathon (talk) 00:23, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Pseudodaoist is making unceasing efforts to add claims that graphology is a science to that section and eliminate any reference to a different point of view, going against the neutral point of view and Misplaced Pages:Verifiability 456hjk (talk) 00:29, 24 June 2008 (UTC) Besides how did he get here?. Because if the way he did was looking at your edition in graphology this could be considered like "calling for help from your friend", even though you surely don´t even know him 456hjk (talk) 00:32, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

He asked for an explanation of why the dispute template should be used. jonathon (talk) 00:58, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
the request for an explanation of the template can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/User_talk:190.51.174.73 jonathon (talk) 04:18, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

And Jonathon is directly blanking the section, leaving only his point of view 456hjk (talk) 01:01, 24 June 2008 (UTC) And i quote wikipedia:verifiability: "The threshold for inclusion in Misplaced Pages is verifiability, not truth—that is, whether readers are able to check that material added to Misplaced Pages has already been published by a reliable source, not whether pseudodaoist thinks it is true."456hjk (talk) 01:06, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

I should have given the link too. Here it is: Portal:Current_events/India. I have been updating the "India in this week" section. Yeah, my final semester exams were going on, so I could not come online regularly. Rohit Reddy™ (talk) 05:05, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

How can one interlink the calendar dates with the news articles? If you can tell me how, I can update that section also. Did you have a look at the calendar? It needs some editing which I tried to do, but was not successful. Can you do something about it?Rohit Reddy™ (talk) 04:55, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

hi, may i point out that the calculations were based purely on data within that article (within the "same wiki article") and based on the common day to day knowledge of the govt.s' measures to accomodate any forward caste candidate who could be aggrieved by being in the 50 to 69 percentile range{fact}..references will be hard to find for an accepted fact..however i welcome any reference to a day to day fact —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.193.32.90 (talk) 15:47, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

You didn't tell me what your interests were. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ 14:17, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello buddy, it is a pleasure to meet you too!! BTW, regarding your question about the IndiaFM images, I first, myself need to ask you a question. Are you only planning to use the image you specified in my message? Anyways, now for my reply!! When I was in talks with the people of IndiaFM to use the images on their site, they indicated to me that we were allowed to use any images that came from "on the sets" and "events", such as award functions, music releases, etc. We are allowed to use these images as they have been taken exclusively and personally by the IndiaFM photographers team. So I am pretty sure that there shouldn't be a problem regarding the image you wanted to use on the RDB article. However, just a reminder that we are not allowed to use wallpapers and movie stills or posters as IndiaFM doesn't hold the copyright to these images. They specifically outlined this in their message!! BTW, the method of uploading images onto Misplaced Pages is quite complicated. If you want me to upload it for you, I have no problem!! Just a reminder that the OTRS members take quite a while to ticket the images!! So you will have to wait a while!! If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask. Best Regards, --Bollywood Dreamz 20:58, 28 June 2008
Hey buddy, you shouldn't have uploaded the image yet as you didn't know about the uploading process. However, it is okay!! We cannot just upload the images and stick on the IndiaFM tag with the OTRS ticket number. This is what it says on the template documentation: "Don't just upload images from there and put this license on it - all images from IndiaFM must be verified, individually or in small batches, by OTRS. This may be considered inconvenient, but it is a lot more inconvenient for people to have to delete all the images because one person may have done it wrong." As for the uploading technique, here I go... lol.. It is a very long and complicated process... To avoid the mess like what was the case with the Bollywood Blog images, we have to upload images in batches, for e.g. three-four images. BUT it must first have to pass through the OTRS system. You have to e-mail them at "permissions@wikimedia.org", providing the links of the pictures from the IndiaFM website and the original ticket number of the agreement between the IndiaFM people and I regarding the use of their images. (The original ticket number can be seen on the image's page where it says: "For reference, the correspondence with indiaFM can be viewed at...") Then after that, you upload it onto Commons, adding an OTRS pending tag. When an OTRS member comes across the image, he/she will go find your e-mail and then replace the OTRS pending tag with the permission ticket. Just a reminder that the OTRS members take quite a while to ticket the images!! Note: the permission ticket is different for all images as the ticket is when you sent your e-mail to them. See take a look at these images for yourself: (It is right above the "File History") Image:KareenaKapoor.jpg & Image:Zinta IIFA 04.jpg. If you have any questions regarding this long and confusing process, feel free to let me know. As for now, I fixed the RDB image. This is how it should look like in the beginning for all the images uploaded from IndiaFM. (In the IndiaFM images, everything is the same except the final permission OTRS ticket and the link of the image.) However, it is still not done yet!! Please send an e-mail to the OTRS at "permissions@wikimedia.org", providing the link of the picture from the IndiaFM website and the original ticket number of the agreement between the IndiaFM people and I regarding the use of their images. (The original ticket number can be seen on the image's page where it says: "For reference, the correspondence with indiaFM can be viewed at...") Best Regards, --Bollywood Dreamz 16:25, 30 June 2008

References

Most of the book references are thanks to google books. For Pather Panchali, limited preview of "The Inner Eye" book by Andrew Robinson was available. News references are derived through google news search (NYT has good archive). Also a separate advanced search for "pdf" files is often productive. Moreover, lately I got an access to JSTOR database, that has been good help. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 13:10, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

About the Edit to the Mr. Garrison article.

Hello. I was attempting to update the article on Mr. Garrison. I attempted to update the article because the last time that section of the article was edited, Mr. Garrison was still a woman, at this time Mr. Garrison is a man(See "Eek, A Penis!"). The article still called Mr. Garrison Janet, while his name is now Herbert. It also referred that he currently "Scissors", which is no longer true since he is now a man. If you could add a blip to my talk page about why you changed it, that would be greatly appreciated. 65.30.72.153 (talk) 16:01, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm glad to hear that, thats cool. Yes Bollywood Dreamz is indeed a great help and a friendly guy. Lets hope Vanaja passes GA! I did mention that before that once we had made an agreement like that it would be good to try to find production shots of films as I feel this is very important and an asset to the article. As for Mr Biggelsworth, he is purring away happily, well fed as usual. Hope you are well. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ 20:22, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Re:Your recent edit to Hyderabad article

Oh! was it offensive? I did not want it to be actually. Just wrote... Actually after seeing the image I could not hold my laughter. I almost fell from my chair laughing. Who in the world would take such an image :-))) and even display it to the world after that!!! Would have delete it on camera itself. I will be careful next time. For newsletter, I have noted some points but not able to put it up. Very busy with 2008 Indian embassy bombing in Kabul. Will start next week definitely. --gppande «talk» 16:03, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Yaar, I understand that. Will be careful next time. Meanwhile, that user did some major changes on India which I reverted and explained him the procedure. ITN nominations seem easy enough than DYK. I got 2 successfully nominated currently on main page - Kabul bombing and Lal Masjid. --gppande «talk» 16:24, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

List of Bengali films

Hi. I've begun reformatting the pointless A-Z into a chronology with details. A-Z is avilabale in the category anyway. Could you give me hand developed it gradually? Thanks ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ 16:04, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi

Hi, yeah, you're right abt the pic i had posted recently in the Hyderabad article. The night view when seen with bare eyes across the Hussain sagar is quite good. It's been long ive put new pics especially wanted to try to put up a good panoramic view of the lake. Got an opportunity receently to take some shots, but the pics didnt turn up quite well(im not a pro at panoramic shots) in the night. Shots taken in the evening would come out good i guess. Would try to put up good ones next time. Thanks for supporting editors like me.

Your thoughts on the sports section in article 'India' which i did edit recently? That apart how abt having a seperate section on 'Film and Music' as well as 'Indian cuisine' in the same article. PLz go thro' the India talk page to get a better view of wht im saying. Cheers! Cephas 405 (talk) 10:48, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi I wondering if you could read the Kareena Kapoor article sometime and yet some ideas for how to take it to FA. It passed GA a few days ago but is being improved all the time. Peer review has started here. Thanks ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ 10:08, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Re:Newsletter.

Yeah, I support the nuke deal from my bottom of the heart. I updated the news in ITN got it to the Main page. Nice to have you back. We can send out the newsletter this month end 30th with little more efforts. --gppande «talk» 17:11, 23 July 2008 (UTC) Regarding DYK's I think we can put some this time as we do not have much facts about the projects. --gppande «talk» 17:16, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Nice update. But I think we missed the july bus. So maybe by August month end we would need some updates for the newsletter. We would now keep the letter once in two months. --gppande «talk» 10:42, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Use of text from other FA articles

Hi! Mspraveen,

I wish to know the views of Admn on the following aspects.

1. Whether the copy and paste strategy from one article to another is permitted? In one of the articles which I am writing, I wish to use some information and also refer to some of the referred texts in a FA or any other article on wiki created by some one else. What is the Admn policy of the Misplaced Pages on this issue?

2. Can the photos already available on Wikimedia but used by several others on other articles on[REDACTED] be used by any of the registered wikiusers? --Nvvchar (talk) 15:24, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Vanaja

Why did you remove a single screenshot when it identifies the subject of the article?? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ 09:07, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

GA/Barnstar

Hey, I promoted your GA nom of ] to GA status (finally, right?!). I also dropped off a barnstar on your user page for all your hard work! :) Intothewoods29 (talk) 20:02, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

GA

Congrats on the GA!! I wondered why you didn't respond to me though. Are you still speaking to me? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ 19:42, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Yes you seem to be busy!! Well done on the GA, perhaps you will develop it even further. Dwaiypanc's is currently at FA and I think stands a good chance. Regards ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ 17:16, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Blocked

You have been blocked for abusing multiple accounts. I would be willing to unblock this account seeing as it has some rather impressive contributions on the grounds that you agree to no longer sock. To contest this block please place {{unblock|your reason here}} below. Tiptoety 20:39, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Praveen, I have left a note on WP:ANI about this block. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 04:15, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

{{unblock|It appears so sad for me to be even reading this. I never imagined that I would be blamed for socking! It pains me quite deeply for seeing this happen to a multiple-GA and DYK contributor like me. I vehemently deny this blame on every possible grounds and I'm sure that many of my fellow-editors would contest against this block for me. It doesn't even make sense for me to say that I would no longer sock when I never socked! So if you have deemed it fit that I have socked, then so be it. All I have to say is adieu to Misplaced Pages and my future contributions! Mspraveen (talk) 04:39, 10 August 2008 (UTC)}}

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

After looking through the contributions, I think this is a misidentification.--Stephan Schulz (talk) 07:08, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Request handled by: Stephan Schulz (talk) 07:08, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Praveen, This is exactly what I did not want to see (that you be thinking of leaving). As you can see on ANI, already 3 users (including me) have questioned the block and are requesting an unblock. I hope you would be patient to see this through and get yourself un-blocked. We need your continued contributions here. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 04:43, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Take a deep breath, be patient, and hold tight. Mistakes do happen, and in good faith at that. I can't imagine this won't be fixed. priyanath  04:46, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Ganesh and Priyanath, I sincerely appreciate your support at ANI. Although I don't deny that I'm deeply saddened to see this, I understand that mistakes can happen. But this leads me to think about any other genuine users who have began to edit and have no past contributions to back their cases up. I wonder! Thanks again Ganesh, Priyanath & Ncm Mspraveen (talk) 04:49, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Hi!, I just want you to know that you shouldn't leave, I understand what is liked to be blocked after you've done alot to help. You're probably angry right now on many different levels, but just stay in there and wait it out. I can see you've done alot and we (The pedia) can't lose a good editor like yourself.--WillC 04:56, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Like I stated in the block message above I am more than willing to unblock your account, but I would like to hear from the CheckUser first seeing as they may have made a mistake. Please bear with us. Cheers, Tiptoety 05:16, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
