Aaron Hunt (born September 4, 1986, Goslar) is a German footballer who plays for Werder Bremen.

Career

He made his Bundesliga debut on September 18, 2004, as a substitute against Hannover 96. On his first appearance in the starting line-up against Borussia Mönchengladbach on February 12, 2005, he scored his first league goal, becoming Werder Bremen's youngest-ever goalscorer at the age of 18 years and 161 days. Early in 2006, Hunt suffered a mysterious knee injury, which after some months was found to be bursitis. As a result, he missed the remainder of the season following the winter break. On March 3, 2007, he bagged a hat-trick in the 3-0 Bundesliga win against VfL Bochum.

He is a joint British-German national, having a German father and an English mother, but has stated that he would only ever play international football for Germany. He is a current German under-21 international.

Scandal

In November 2006 he was charged by UEFA for serious unsporting behaviour after complaints of racist remarks by Under 21 players in a game against his mother's native country, England. Hunt was banned for two games. However, he successfully appealed the decision shortly thereafter and the ban was dropped.
