Anil Kapoor (born 24 December, 1959) is an Indian movie actor.
His father, Surinder Kapoor, is a film producer. One of his brothers, Boney Kapoor, is a director; another brother, Sanjay Kapoor, is also an actor, although much less famous than Anil. This branch of the Kapoors is only distantly related to the famous Kapoor Bollywood film clan.
Anil Kapoor appeared in a few minor roles, then starred in the 1983 film Woh Saat Din (Those seven days). His career took off with the blockbuster Ram-Lakhan in which he co-starred with Jackie Shroff. Anil starred with Madhuri Dixit in the 1989 hit movie Tezaab. He also apppeared in Mr. India, Lamhe, Parinda, and Kishan Kanhaiya. He won critical acclaim for his role as a freedom fighter in the 1993 movie 1942: A Love Story. His recent hit movies include Judaai (1997) and Taal (1999).
His most recent release is the 2005 My Wife's Murder. The film has not been an immediate hit.
