Angel Locsín

Angélica Colmenares (born April 23, 1985), stage name Angel Locsín, is a actress from the Philippines who portrayed Darna in the GMA Network's television series with the same name.

Personal background

Locsín was born in Bulacan. She is second from three siblings. The surname Locsín was derived from her mother's maiden name.

She is fond of cooking and learning new recipes.

Acting career

Locsín started to appear in Click, a now defunct teen-oriented program of GMA. But she only became widely known when she appeared in the cover of FHM Philippines. The same magazine frequently lists her as one the "100 sexiest woman in the World". After being casted in Click, GMA had given her various television shows like Love to Love and All Together Now.

She starred as one of the main cast in Mulawin and it is considered as one of her biggest breaks in showbiz. After her role as Alwina in Mulawin, she applied for the 2005 Darna television series and she was chosen to be Darna among numerous actress who applied for it.

Aside from television shows, Locsín also starred in films. Among these films are Kuya, Mano Po 2, Singles, Sigaw and Let the love begin. She will reprise her role as Alwina in the upcoming Mulawin movie.

Controversy

When Angel Locsín appeared in one of the Axe TV ads, many feminist groups, as well as former Senator Nikki Coseteng, complained about the offensive gestures in the advertisement. In the television commercial, Angel is teasing a man by showing off money and her body but the man approaches Angel and has taken only her money.

Because of the complaints, Unilever Philippines, the maker of Axe, slowly pulled out the commercial.
