The LG VX9700 (or "LG Dare") is LG's newest touch phone, a variant of the popular Korean and European LG Prada or LG Vu. In the U.S. it was released online June 26, 2008 and was released in Verizon stores on July 3rd, 2008. The phone features touch screen navigation, a 3.2 megapixel camera with face recognition and many photo enhancing tools, a camcorder, customizable shortcut menus and a multitask music player. The Dare also has a feature which allows the user to save a list of their favorite contacts and have quick access to them and a handwriting feature which allows the user to write numbers or letters by writing with their finger. The LG Dare is the third phone to have Rev. A technology - after the Sprint Mogul and Touch. Rev. A is the fastest technology currently offered for wireless data on cellular phones.
Camera
The LG Dare has a 3.2 Megapixel Camera which includes a LED Flash. Some features of the camera include 5 different resolutions, five white balance presets, five color effects, four ISO settings (Auto ISO, ISO 100, ISO 200, and ISO 400) and six preset scenes. Other options include multishot, shutter sounds (three of them), auto focus, self timer, and four different shot types (Normal, Panorama, Split and Frame). The newest innovation called SmartPic technology offers face detection and enhances images with face color compensation.
Other Features
The Dare includes an HTML Browser that works much like a regular computer and VCAST music with Rhapsody, making it easier to listen, watch and access music instantly. The Navigation system gives you turn by turn directions for whatever destination you type in and the 8GB memory port enables you to store many documents, videos, music etc. The drag and drop menu creates shortcuts by allowing you to pick your favorite menu options and putting them on the front screen or in whatever order you would like to see them. The 1000 entry contact list allows room for 5 numbers and two email addresses and comes with the option of 26 ringtones and picture ID.
