Ajith (born May 1, 1971 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India) is a popular Indian Tamil cinema actor and a Formula 3 race car driver with a huge fan following. He is called "Thala" (Head or Leader) by his fans. He is titled as Ultimate Star Ajith in his movies. Alongside contemporary actor Vijay,he forms the 'top two' of young generation actors. Other actors famous for being in 'top two'in the Tamil film industry are M.K. Thyagaraja Bagavadar- P.U. Chinnappa,M.G. Ramachandran - Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth - Kamal Haasan.
Ajith is especially known for his dual roles. In the film Vaali he played twins - one a ladies charmer and the other a deaf and dumb business man obsessed with his brother's wife. . Other dual roles were as a fisherman father and advocate son in Citizen, a handicapped man and an angry young man in Villain, and as a Tuticorin don and a driving school owner in Attahasam. He dons a triple role in the upcoming movie Godfather.
