Hello, this is my talk page. Leave me a message!
Please leave a new message.
This talkpage is 'being watched'

New article to get your Crown

Feel free to message my talk page if you want some help in getting a new article to WP:DYK. I'd love to help you out. Had any articles in mind that you were thinking of creating? Cirt (talk) 03:31, 28 November 2007 (UTC).

  • I just created a new article for WP:DYK myself actually, check out The Psychology of The Simpsons. If you have a particular book about The Simpsons that you like, that is always a good idea because you can get good information/sources from book reviews, etc. After a little checking to make sure an article is not already in existence on Misplaced Pages, it's relatively safe to assume that a non-wikilinked entry at List of The Simpsons publications would be a good bet. Do keep me posted, I'd be glad to help you. Cirt (talk) 18:20, 28 November 2007 (UTC).
  • Keep looking through the stubs category or for an idea for a brand new article. Meantime, I will work on minor formatting of The Simpsons and Philosophy: The D'oh! of Homer, and finding some sources for you to note on the talk page. Cirt (talk) 19:15, 28 November 2007 (UTC).
    • Check out Talk:The Simpsons and Philosophy: The D'oh! of Homer. Cheers, Cirt (talk) 20:07, 28 November 2007 (UTC).
      • Someone else can do the actual nominating of the article for you. All you have to do is expand/write it. Then, after it has appeared on the Main Page, you get credited with expansion of the article, and the nominator gets credited for nominating it. Personally, I think the expansion/writing/creating is the real deal, so I'd have no problem nominating it for you. Just let me know when the article is ready. Have fun expanding it! Cirt (talk) 21:32, 28 November 2007 (UTC).
        • Well, for starters try using all the other citations from the talk page. Once you've exhausted all those, I supposed I could try to find you some more sources. Try expanding upon material from existing cites in the article as well. I don't want to get too involved into contributing content, so let me know after you've tried the above stuff. Cirt (talk) 05:33, 29 November 2007 (UTC).
  • I've added a few more cites, with relevant blockquoted portions, at Talk:The Simpsons and Philosophy: The D'oh! of Homer. By now you should have plenty of sources to get the article up to WP:GA status if you wanted to, and double its current size. After you have used a source, just let me know and I'll comment out the blockquoted portion from the talkpage, no need to leave it there. Cirt (talk) 06:49, 29 November 2007 (UTC).
    • Surely there is some more you can use to expand the article. Perhaps some tasteful quotes from some of the sources? Cirt (talk) 23:15, 29 November 2007 (UTC).
      • You've done some good work/expansion with the sources given from the talk page. Good luck with the WP:DYK. Is there any more expansion that can be done, any more sources from the talk page you haven't used yet, that could be used in the article? Cirt 01:59, 3 December 2007 (UTC).
        • I think there is more to be pulled from the talk page sources. If the articles successfully gets on T:DYK, I will expand the article more, after that. Good work. Cirt 02:05, 3 December 2007 (UTC).
  • I'll take a look at that article, sure. And basically, my local library(s) give some of their resources as online access for patron members, for free. For more difficult sources, I have to go to the library itself, and for more difficult sources, I have to ask for an interlibrary loan sometimes. But mostly, the online resources do quite nicely. Cirt 02:08, 3 December 2007 (UTC).
    • Sure, if you want, I can leave the sources on the talk page. Less work for me, just like the other article, I'll get you some additional sources, and you can use them. Just remind me if I don't get on it for a while. I wonder how much longer it will be until we get all the Season 9 articles to GA or FA status... Cirt 02:15, 3 December 2007 (UTC).
  •  Done -- Added some sources to the talk page for The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson. Hope it helps. Cirt 03:27, 3 December 2007 (UTC).
    • After you use all those sources, I can try to find the text of the McNee article. Just remind me after you've exhausted the other sources. Might take me a day or two. Cirt 03:42, 3 December 2007 (UTC).

Treehouse of Horror (series)

I was wondering if you could take a look at the page. I've been pecking away at it for a week and I think it's in good form (although the reception and merchandise sections are easily the weakest parts). If there are no serious objections, I'm going to give an FAC a try in a few days. So please take a look and let me know what you think. Thanks, Scorpion 02:02, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Newsletter

Yep. Thanks. WesleyDodds 00:23, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Do you know why whenever we sent out the newsletter it appears right next to the subject line, thus messing up the formatting on talk pages and making them difficult to edit? For a demonstration of what I am talking about, compare this edit to the previous version to see how I fixed the problem on your talk page. Apparently it's always been like that, so it's nothing new. WesleyDodds 12:14, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
The problem is when it's posted there's a space between the section title and the newsletter script, when there should be a hard return. The space instead of the return makes the script show up on the same line as the section title, and makes it so if you try to edit any sections below the newsletter, you actually end up opening the edit page for the next section. Updated DYK query On 7 December, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article The Simpsons and Philosophy: The D'oh! of Homer, which you created or substantially expanded. Simpsons WikiProject Triple Crown

I, Durova, am pleased to award this special edition triple crown to WikiProject The Simpsons and its hardworking volunteers. Durova 00:15, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for all your hard work, and may you wear the crowns (and donut) well. Durova 00:15, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Sure, you can use this one too (kinda redundant though since you've got the cooler special edition kind). Cheers, Durova 00:46, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Dumbbell Indemnity

Just wanted to drop you a line and tell you to not let what happened on DI get you down. There are some editors who, even when well-intentioned, come off as jackasses because of the way in which they do things, or comment on things. The written word is harsh that way. You've made quite a few solid contributions to wikipedia, don't let a GA rejection (no matter how unfair it may seem) keep you from writing here. There will be other days, and other articles. Take care! Snowfire51 (talk) 23:37, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Mallow.PNG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Mallow.PNG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 20:47, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Alt-rock newsletter

The newsletter should be ready to go. However, I want to solve the problem with the newsletter appearing on the same line as the section title, which throws off the formatting of people's talk pages and makes it hard to edit talk sections below the newsletter. Post it only on my talk page first so we can try and correct it. WesleyDodds (talk) 04:09, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Ok, open the section on my talk page titled "Misplaced Pages:Featured article candidates/R.E.M. (band)". Notice how the newsletter is there too? And if you click on the Newsletter section, the browser will say "No such section exists". The problem is that there needs to be a return instead of a space between "==WikiProject Alternative music December 2007 Newsletter==" and "{{Misplaced Pages:WikiProject_Alternative_music/Newsletter/December 2007}}". Try to fix the problem in your edit window (I don't know what it looks like when you'e delivering the newsletters). Replace the newsletter on my talk page with the edited one and we'll see if it works. WesleyDodds (talk) 04:44, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Ok, it's working fine now. WesleyDodds (talk) 04:52, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson

I'm not sure, I haven't really taken a look in a while. Do as much as you can with what you can, and let me know when you think you've exhausted everything. Cirt (talk) 02:43, 4 January 2008 (UTC).

Do you have the DVDs like a good Simpsons fan (lol) or do you need me to take a screen shot? Ctjf83 06:29, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
LOL, I suppose I could have looked at your image uploads, oh well. Aww...such a cute kid too! :) Ctjf83 06:36, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Oh, and just to clarify, I'm not some psycho perv who likes little boys, just to make sure you didn't take that the wrong way! Ctjf83 06:39, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
I think you should leave the 2 towers picture...it is relevant and 2 pics isn't too many Ctjf83 06:44, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Your question

I'm too confused too, but Scorpion0422 (talk · contribs) is more knowledgeable about that stuff. Cirt (talk) 01:49, 7 January 2008 (UTC).

Are you talking about the album Dookie? Actually, the page requested for that day is for an episode of Lost that first airs on January 31. But oh well. My suggestion is to mention in the section that you wanted to nominate the page for that day. But if it is Dookie, there have been a few albums on the main page recently, so it might be rejected for the sake of variety. -- Scorpion 01:58, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
It's worth a try, you just have to wait until there are only five requests left. -- Scorpion 02:02, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

I suppose. What program are you using? --Simpsons fan 66 22:28, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Ok, I'll ask the video game guys and see if I can get some specific instructions. Can you give me the template for the latest version so I can show them what the problem is? --Simpsons fan 66 22:45, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

You've been loved by Cirt

Hey there! Cirt has loved you by placing a heart icon in the top-right corner of your userpage. Don't worry, it's not vandalism, but simply a small way to spread the WikiLove. If you don't really like it, feel free to revert it and make it go away, and no hard feelings; after all, it's just a small token of appreciation. If you like it, just add your name here, but again, there's no need to feel upset if you don't. Love and best wishes, Cirt (talk) 04:49, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Duplicate Image:Wpdohad5.gif

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Wpdohad5.gif, by another Misplaced Pages user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Wpdohad5.gif is a duplicate of an already existing article, category or image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Wpdohad5.gif, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. CTC Vandal

We have made a list of vandals that continually vandalizes Kill Gil: Vols. 1 & 2 by changing "Christmas" to "Crime", the list can be found here. If you revert the vandalism, i would give the warning {{subst:uw-vandalism4im|Article}} which says this is the only warning they will receive. When reporting to vandalism noticeboard link to the list of vandals, and hopefully the IP will get blocked quicker, and for a longer period of time. Ctjf83 21:17, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

I found a fansite a while ago that reprinted a ton of Soundgarden articles. Do a search and you'll probably find it quickly. I think I've gone through most of my personal references when we did a COTW for the page, but I'll do my best to help. WesleyDodds (talk) 00:40, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Wow, Phoenix has a lot of friends. :P I'd be glad to help with the article, and I'm sure at least a couple of the others would be too; and it wouldn't count for the 20 FAs, that would be cheating. ;) · AndonicO 00:29, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Oakley

Hi! I just entered the Simpsons IRC channel this evening. As far as things to actually ask Oakley, I thought we could request him to critique some of our FAs (especially the episodes he was involved with), and maybe get him to recommend some good sources for criticism/analysis. I'll let you know if I have any more ideas. I'll try to be in IRC around 10:30 PM tomorrow (Central Time). Zagalejo^^^ 06:05, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Dookie

Congradulations on getting Dookie featured. Great work! Basketballone10 01:15, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Congratulations! Cirt (talk) 14:31, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Dookie

I was pleasantly surprised to see Dookie on the main page today (I remember when in high school I made a point of memorizing the album's original release date). Do you need any help? WesleyDodds (talk) 01:35, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Quote marks

I don't know what Tony is referring to, but I don't believe those periods should be on the outside of the quote marks. In all three of those cases the punctuation was going with the statement itself. Unless those quotes were part of a longer sentence, they appear to be single statements quotes. If you look at the examples given at WP:PUNC, that's what they look like.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 06:33, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Personally, I would add them back because they all appear (at least to me) to be part of the quoted text and not within the WP sentence. If Tony disagrees let him explain why, because I don't think any of them were incorrect.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 06:40, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

I responded to your comment from the FAC for Battlefield Earth (film). Cirt (talk) 11:48, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

List of writers

I've thought of working on it before, but the first thing you have to do is find out if there are any reliable sources online. I think the episodes themselves are useable as sources, but a online list from a non-SNPP source would be helpful. As for the list itself, I think you should sort it alphabetically (since it is a list of writers, not a list of writers by season) and perhaps split up the table into alphabetical sections. -- Scorpion 22:36, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, looks like the FAC is starting out okay, next I just have to go through the whole thing and look for silly quote punctuation fixes. Cirt (talk) 04:45, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, I sure hope so.  :) Cirt (talk) 04:53, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

timezone?

Just wondering, what timezone are you in? Eastern time (GMT -5.00 (US + Canada)), Central time (GMT -6.00 (US and Canada), or Pacific time (GMT -8.00 (US and Canada)? --Simpsons fan 66 03:21, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Are we screwed?

What happened with the groups for Washington? Wasn't able to be there. Haris145 (talk) 01:17, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Advertisment fixed!

Good news! Gurch came through and fixed your advertisment! It now works perfectly. In addition, Miranda has added it to WP:BANNER, so other people who use scrolling ads will see the Simpsons one! If you could figure out a way to put the ad on your userpage and post it on WP:DOH we'll be in buisness! --Simpsons fan 66 03:34, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Treehouse of Horror V PR

Unfortunately the DVD of this episode that I own does not have any commentary on it so I can't anymore info from it into the article. I'd love to hear any other suggestions. I notice there is nothing about the opening sequence so I was think about adding that in. Not sure sure how to set it out though. Buc (talk) 20:55, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

I just need some help with a few areas. I can't do it all myself. Buc (talk) 07:02, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

I've expanded the prodution section now. Still a major issue with the prose though I think. Buc (talk) 17:08, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

I'd really like to nominate this soon so anymore would be a big help. Buc (talk) 17:04, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Nominated, I could really use some help. Buc (talk) 09:15, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Bill Oakley

Hi Xihix, I hope you don't mind, but since you have been inactive for a while and I wanted to get our Q&A session done, I contacted Bill at NHC myself. He responded and I told him that sending him questions via e-mail would be okay. I was unsure if WikiNews would accept it, but I was told they would. Anyway, I told him we would send him our list soon, so add any questions while you can. -- Scorpion 01:35, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
