What is your opinion on WP:ANI "Block for a censor", particularly the last section of that?
I am concerned with the nasty attitude of some. I remarked about Wikidemon removing others (at least 3 people) comments from article talk pages. When complaining about it, people defend him even if the comments removed were polite and useful. Some people attack the complainer with a variety of excuses.

I have no problem with the new username; they are better off just opening a new account or having one created under that name rather than formally changing it. However, the new one needs to be monitored for spamming, and blocked appropriately if so. Daniel Case (talk) 13:55, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
We'll see how they respond to the current decline. I'm assuming bad faith and all, but I'm not seeing their comprehension of "stop spamming!" TravellingCari 22:48, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
hi
Sorry about the delay; I was busy IRL and had to put it on the backburner. And then I forgot all about it! I can't even promise to do it today, but rest assured it is back on my radar. (Damn me and my mixed metaphors!) Hesperian 00:34, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Perhaps i'm not AGF, but I don't believe the original comment was genuine, considering the last bit of their contribution. Clearly it was there to be negative. Timeshift (talk) 04:00, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Frank Cable's page should be overhauled as it does not accurrately reflect on the events that occurred during the foundation of The Electric Boat Company.
Dear Mr. Euryalus:
I have made a minor correction to (Frank T Cable's) page Frank Cable and I want you to be aware of that. I think the "original version" of this story was less biased than the current version that is (currently) posted on Misplaced Pages. Information about this man and the company he once managed... Electric Boat Company is very much distorted and biased in favor of those such as Isaac Rice, Elihu B. Frost, Frank T. Cable and Lawrence Y. Spear. This elusive story got that way because of the biased versions coming from Frank T. Cable and Lawrence York Spear etc. and are not accurrate. No offense, but the truth in regards to this matter will not always be politically correct or what "they" want us to know concerning this subject. Cable was not a shipbuilder or naval architect but took credit (away) from people such as Arthur L. Busch for instence. Cable (and Spear) thought that submarine ships would have better performance and handle better with propellers located forward of the rudders. This was later proven wrong (again) as Holland had it right before them. With integrity, I will tell you the truth. Good day to you Sir! --Middim13 (talk) 00:19, 30 September 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Middim13 (talk • contribs) 00:12, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

telectronics and Noel Gray's background
Who do you know that knows better than Chris Gray about Noel Gray's background? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.229.45.13 (talk) 10:34, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Replying here as you have a dynamic IP so there's no point in leaving messages on your talk page. The problem with your additions to the Noel Gray page are:
- They are unsourced or use only self-published sources. These are not generally sufficient to reference anything other than uncontroversial matters.
- They represent a particular point of view, in that they are generally designed to portray your father's life in a favourable light while casting aspersions on his business partners. Articles should maintain a neutral tone and present the verifiable facts, good or bad, about their subjects.
- They represent original research, which you demonstrate again in your message above. Of course you know a great deal about your father's life, but Misplaced Pages is not a repository of its editors personal knowledge, but of verifiable, cited facts.
- Lastly, you have a conflict of interest. editors are strongly discouraged from writing articles about themselves, their families or companies they work for, because there is always at least a perception (and often a reality) that they will have trouble presenting a neutral view. Editors who write articles about subjects very close to them may also sometimes develop a sense of ownership of particular articles.
Secondary sources on Noel Gray are hard to come by, and I appreciate you feel the article does not do your father justice in his role in Telectronics or in designing pacemakers. The answer is to find more sources, not include unsourced statements in the article. Given the points above it might also be worth your while to look at editing other articles instead of this one - Misplaced Pages is a big place and there's plenty else to do. Euryalus (talk) 22:12, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
You have an inflated view of your formalities that prevents the truth being told so there is no point in further discussion. I hope this subversive diatribe is one day removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.186.157.179 (talk) 12:17, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
AfD
Hi Euryalus
Just to correct something you said here and here. Anon editors can nominate an article for deletion, they just need to leave the nomination details on the article's talk page and, if reasonable, an AfD will be created as part of DumbBOT's operations (albeit manually). The AfD tag says:
Unregistered users placing this tag on an article cannot complete the deletion nomination and should leave detailed reasons for deletion on Talk:James E. McPherson. If the nomination is not completed and no message is left on the talkpage, this tag may be removed.

Please note that I know the American $2 exists, the reference that I was removed by the anon was to a story where a cashier claimed that it did not exist. I was using that as a reference for the factual statement that is contained within the image. β 21:08, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Xenophobia
Hi, I noticed your contribution to the Australia section, and I reverted it in the hope that it would be removed to the discussion section, not because I neccessarily disagree with it. As for being unsourced, you will notice at the top of the aricle that the whole article is largely unsourced. I look forward to finding sources to the Australia section which I largely rewrote about a month ago, and any relevant changes that ought to be made, but I would prefer that it was done in consensus and not degenerate into an edit war. So I propose that we keep future edit proposals on the Australia section to the talk page. thanks. --58.172.251.46 (talk) 11:05, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your message. I'm a bit puzzled, as the version you reverted to is the last one by me. Were you intending to rever it to a previous one, or do you agree with my last edit? Either way, I'm happy to discuss the sentence on the talk page but I don't think it has been the subject of an edit war - it was added by an anon IP, I modified the language to make it more neutral, and its remained in that form since.
- I also agree the entire article is largely unsourced. Fact tags on the tops of sections might be something to consider instead of next to individual sentences. Xenophobia is an oft-discussed topic, so we could also both work on finding sources for the claims. Euryalus (talk) 21:09, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Roy Stewart (surfer)
A tag has been placed on Roy Stewart (surfer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Misplaced Pages:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Travis Thurston+ 18:49, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Thank you
The place would be a much better one if that sort of note was done like that more often - thank you - as for old debates on the same topic - there should be an australian project sub page please do not reinvent the wheel - the following precedents have been established SatuSuro 04:27, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
hist places = very important point - i could fill a page of text with my misgivings and etc about the interlink between fed - state - local gov and the issues that arise - gotta get off - might get back to you at some point later today - cheers SatuSuro 00:38, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Abstaining - decided to, have very strong POV about issues re defining heritage at local, state and fed levels - maybe will watch the talk page for a while - so as not to be disruptive of the evolving project - SatuSuro 05:55, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
OK Sydney project was been bugged by some enthusiasts going out and taking photos of oldish buildings and making claims for them here on WP - it smells as there are no criteria being adequately applied (i didnt follow it closely though) - similarly - the politics of inclusion and exclusion criteria at all 3 levels also smell - engineers self nominate their great dams in western tasmania against their own criteria (no overall assessment re the utility and other criteria) - whereas the country they have despoiled is equally nominatable (ok the western fringe of the world heritage area has some very difficult issues admittably)- in the places/building thingo - there is a lot of grey area stuff in the nomination and exclusion at all three levels - mainly the capacity of political interference - there are the feel good and baby kissing type of nominations that go through at all levels and there is little issue with any contestation .
Then the far more interesting items are the abandoned nominations, and the fought ones and the ones with the classic bulldozers in the night events (Brisbane was famous for this during the jbp era for instance) - nah its too easy for the easy stuff - but the edges, the margins and the grey areas are gonna be the challenge - it could be a separate article within the project - something like 'failed and disputed heritage' (the barracks arch here in perth is classic weird compromise example) and the need for such an article to exist would be a good way to fend off cynics like self seeking out exceptions to a very mixed bag of 'stars' - and the long list of lost items in western australia and tasmania that i know of - that could have been heritage listed, but oops they no longer exist :) SatuSuro 06:22, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
RfA
Hi Euryalus! Thank you very much for your support and insight in my RfA, which passed yesterday. I hope not to let you and the others down and use the tools for the benefit of the project. On a side note, it's interesting you commented on the WikiProject issue, because I don't think most !voters understood what I meant by needing the tools for the WikiProject. I definitely did not mean that I'd use them in conflict of interest articles, but rather in 'complex' transliteration-related moves (you'd be surprised how many cases there are), and other similar things where admin tools would simply make it easier and smoother for me to contribute to the WP Israel, which I value very much. Cheers, Ynhockey 20:01, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Cischelalocuat edit for the Carl Stephenson bio
Dear Euryalus,
Please note that all of the changes made lately to the Carl Stephenson bio are fully credible, and if evidence is needed, it can be arranged. He is an instrumentalist of orchestral and jazz styles of music primarily at this juncture, much of which will be offered in the future after he earns his Bachelors in the Arts. He and the band "Alder Ensemble" make music stands and instruments from found lumber, cans, paint, and paper mache.
He is currently working with two non profit organizations, Pour La Terre (France) and the Tree of Life Guardianship (America) for educational purposes regarding the environment.
to get to the point of the matter, He needs a level of privacy and faith from the other Misplaced Pages authors, since there is so much incorrect information out there. Please notify us via the talk page before making any changes in the future. That will help us keep everybody in the know.
You are all darlings!
peace and love
