Welcome to my talk page. Here you can leave any messages you want for me. I don't reply on this page however, and will post a reply on your own talk page (unless you don't have one or I wish to leave a message for other readers as well). To make it easier for me, please have a talk link in your signature.
Also, while I accept or even welcome criticism (as you can see, there's some on the page and/or its archives), I will delete any personal attacks. Please don't bother.

Karmiel
Hi Ynhockney. Huldra has been edit-warring with me over my attempt to remove the Arab bias and restore a balance to the Karmiel article. Maybe you could have a look? Best, --Gilabrand (talk) 16:48, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- This looks rather like inappropriate WP:CANVAS. For some reason, Gilabrand is seeking to POV an incident of state-backed dispossession, the kind of thing that in other circumstances we'd call a pogrom. PR 21:31, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Insignias in templates
Hi. I've noticed your removal of unit logos from the two templates I created earlier today. I'm not really sure what the English Misplaced Pages's policy on that is, but I have noticed that this one has been accepted by Wikicommons as "insignia", and so I have just used it in Template:IAF Commanders. Do you think the same with other units? -- Nudve (talk) 17:36, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- You mean the IAF flag is not copyrighted? Or that the IAF itself uploaded it to commons? The commons page doesn't specify. -- Nudve (talk) 18:06, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- The commons tag says "a flag, a coat of arms, a seal or some other official insignia", which should include that stuff. Then again, it doesn't really explain the copyright status. Weird. Anyway, sliced rectangles aren't interesting :) -- Nudve (talk) 18:27, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Any more Israeli architect articles planned?
Hi Ynhockey. I just wanted to write to you to tell you that I really appreciated reading your Ram Karmi article. I also think that the rest of your contributions are very good. Are you going to write any more articles about Israeli architects? Please do, if you would take a request from me. I've seen some articles on the Hebrew WP that would be good to have English translations of, about some very talented architects, but my ability to read Hebrew isn't quite what I would like it to be in order to translate confidently yet. I spend some time trying to learn every day, and I do love browsing the articles on the Hebrew WP. Are you going to nominate the article about Ram Karmi for DYK? I think you should, it would make a fine addition to the main page. Sincerely, DVD (talk) 22:46, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- I nominated the article, feel free to edit it. Regards, DVD (talk) 23:38, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- Then I was uncertain about my writing and impatient waiting for it to go on the mainpage and withdrew the nomination. It is a wonderful article but I wasn't sure of myself in writing, :( sorry I owe you a barnstar.
- I linked the table of contents of the article because he enters the article in the middle and is discussed throughout the rest. I would have listed page numbers but there were titles instead and I wanted to introduce the whole article to the reader. DVD (talk) 20:58, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
- On another note, good luck on your RfA! I think you are going to pass. And last but not least, I was wondering if you could take a look at a naming convention question about another architect I noticed we have two articles started for, and that should probably be merged. Regards, DVD (talk) 20:29, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
- I think this is the firms site which spells his name with a (y) but many of the books on google books spell it with an (i). So I'm still not sure. But I do trust your judgment and think we can go ahead and merge or in this case redirect, it can always be moved again later. DVD (talk) 20:58, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry again for not waiting and for being impatient. But if someone later asks to move it back, you should by then be able to move it back over the redirect :) See you around, DVD (talk) 21:51, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Nudve would like to nominate you to become an administrator. Please visit Misplaced Pages:Requests for adminship to see what this process entails, and then contact Nudve to accept or decline the nomination. A page has been created for your nomination at Misplaced Pages:Requests for adminship/Ynhockey 2. If you accept the nomination, you must state and sign your acceptance. You may also choose to make a statement and/or answer the optional questions to supplement the information your nominator has given. Once you are satisfied with the page, you may post your nomination for discussion, or request that your nominator do so.- :O If you accept, can I co-nom? Your RfA
I stumbled across it, which is a good thing. I rarely support anyone for admin, but my respect for you is so high, you deserve my support. Not that you need it. Now, my only critique is your lack of edits to hockey articles. How about we get a good Israeli hockey article going, since you're Israeli (and I'm technically so, but that was based on using the Law of Return, instead of actually living there), and we're both hockey fans, although if my memory serves me right, you're a Vancouver Canucks supporter. Just drop me a line if you want to do something about any article.OrangeMarlin 16:52, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
Orbat graphics (again)
Hi Ynhockey; sorry for the late reply - I was a bit overburdened by work. "a link a while ago to the legend to your OrBat graphics"??? I can't recall doing so... under APP-6A are the symbols explained... but if you are referring to the colours scheme I use; I think I emailed that a long time ago to you. I just emailed the file to you now. If that is what you meant :-) if not, just let me know and I will try to give you the necessary informations. --noclador (talk) 07:40, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
- If you make a vector version, that is fine with me. Just send me the finished file than. I started years ago with Photoshop and haven't had the time to redraw all graphics as vector images; so if you do the IDF as a vector graphic - that is fine with me :-) --noclador (talk) 10:55, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Israel highway infoboxes
Hi. Can you take a look at Template:Infobox Israel highway? It has a map parameter, but I'm not sure what it's for. Meanwhile, the infoboxes themselves (Highway 1 (Israel), for example) show a naked code. -- Nudve (talk) 20:58, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

- Actually I only noted you were up for consideration when the voting had closed. I don't follow anything to do with administration, and didn't know. I trust implicitly the judgement of many admins I admire, Avruch, Avi, PhilKnight who commended your candidacy, and wouldn't presume to express a personal judgement. I tend, by nature, to approve of strong pro-Israeli editors and admins who, however, apply the rules with rigour, and exact high standards. You've been a tough editor on the few articles where we've engaqed, but scrupulous in regards to evidence, and in my book, since evidence and respect for method is what counts, I join others in heartily congratulating you. As to the other side of the border, well, a small joke on the Green line over there. I live mainly in Italy actually, but in the I/P area I observe events mentally from the topological perspective near the heights of Pisgah, or from the limestone rises above Ibrahim el-Khalil! Best wishes for your adminship then.Nishidani (talk) 21:53, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- Congratulations from me too, and thanks for your "thank you" message. I agree with you about WikiProjects needing admins for the mechanics of running the place. Pushpin maps
Sorry - didn't realise there were regional ones - perhaps you should add them to the documentation of {{Infobox kibbutz}} so other editors are aware of them. One thing I have noticed about these is that for the cities placed on the maps, the co-ords of the article (and the pushpin) do not match - e.g. Kiryat Shmona, where the pushpin is below the city on the map. пﮟოьεԻ 57 23:18, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- Just noticed this discussion. Are there regional maps for all the districts? I see the ones used on Kiryat Shmona is named "Israel north haifa", why? Amos Keinan
Hello - i have no idea how to do this. I am sorry if i wreaked havoc in your formatting. I don't intend to be a contributor just tried to correct a really embarrassing error (Amos Kenan misspelled) with no luck. If you know how to get in touch with person who wrote it please advise as to the correct spelling: Kenan as it appears on all of his books. Other than that an English speaker might wish to go over the grammar. Sorry i can't do it myself, i don't know how. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Salome1969 (talk • contribs) 19:21, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- Once again - i have no idea how to send messages to people here. I can only see an edit option. At any rate the evidence is that I am his daughter and this is how he spells his name, this is how both his daughters do to. Check out amazon.com for his books and see for yourself. Check out Rona Kenan's website and see for yourself. It would have been prudent to check with official foreign language publications before relying on random translated pages. At any rate, i trust you will find a way to take care of it as I know not how to. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Salome1969 (talk • contribs) 20:39, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Re: coordinates
I could certainly use some help if you've got the time. I was hoping to finish off all the articles in Category:West Bank articles missing geocoordinate data since there were so few to begin with. At this point I've done all the easy ones (meaning the ones that can be found easily on google maps or have coordinates in the Hebrew interwiki). There are only 27 left, and I'm about ready to give up on them. There's also Category:Israel articles missing geocoordinate data which I haven't done as much work on and you'll probably find easier. --Bachrach44 (talk) 18:33, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Fair use pics
Hi Ynhockey, I see you've been removing some images of Israeli generals over the past few days. These were only uploaded in the first place because the IDF website explicitly specified that fair use was permitted for their material:
The user may make "fair use" of the protected material as set out under the law. Such fair use includes reasonable quoting from the protected material.
I understand that the copyright fanatics have gotten a bit more Nazi (if I may fulfill Goodwin's law immediately) since then on fair use images of people, and certainly if less restrictive images exist they should be used, but shouldn't we leave these until then? Thanks - Joshdboz (talk) 03:05, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- Heh - I give up - I didn't realize the wording had been made so explicit. Thanks for the Israel-project link. Joshdboz (talk) 12:10, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Labelled Map of Jerusalem
Greetings Ynhockey! I was reading some of the articles on Jerusalem's neighborhoods (Katamon, Malha, German Colony, Wadi al-Joz, Talbiya, Jabel Mukaber to be specific) and I thought with most of the neighborhoods having articles, why isn't there a labeled map for theme? Seeing as you are the best one at making maps, I was hoping that whenever you have spare time you would take a shot at it. It would certainly enhance the Jerusalem article and the overall topic. Speedy deletion of Egged Ta'avura
A tag has been placed on Egged Ta'avura requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Fatal!ty 09:43, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Hospitals
Thanks for making the list; I worked on it some more. Can you move Sha'arei Tzedek Medical Center to Shaare Zedek Medical Center? This is the transliteration the hospital itself uses, and thus also the one we should use, according to all standards of reasonability. We won't write "Hadasah" or "Hadassa" or "Hadasa" either, right? Can't do the move myself, unfortunately. See http://www.szmc.org.il/ENG/ for proof. okay, il take those into consideration, but i won't have enough time to work on the article until friday:/. so expect another message soon my friend
cheers

While established articles with references may rarely qualify for speedy deletion, that does not mean that an established article with references cannot qualify for speedy deletion.
The Patrick Dixon article is autobiographical and fails to establish notability of the subject/author. Two of the four references are to establish that the subject was ranked in a web survey. The other two are websites for organizations created by the subject. Much of the article is unsourced and presumably original research as it is the subject writing about himself. Additionally, the self promotion / advertising of the article is blatant, at least from my perspective.
I appreciate your feedback, however identifying the article as being of a class which typically fails to meet speedy deletion criteria does not inform me of if or why this article fails to meet said criteria.

Category:Archaeological Sites in Israel
I see we have categories with the same name distinduished only by a lower or upper case S in sites. Whilst your category is a more comprehensive list of Wiki pages, the one I'd created gave a reasoned historical background as to why in fact there is such a plethora of Archaeological Sites in Israel. As someone who studies all Israeli Historical sites professionally, I'd suggest somehow combining the information, as your category heading only shows an alternative for 'Archaeology in Israel', which relates more to the science, not the explanation of the existence of so many sites. What do you think? Adrianlw (talk) 20:29, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
C&A Industries
Please tell me why this page was deleted. C&A is one of the largest companies in Omaha, NE and employs thousands of people all over the country. It is a huge part of the development of Omaha and should be included under the listing of Omaha companies. There was nothing in that article but pure facts. Please show me what needs to be removed.

The First Step
Regarding your comment here. I feel that a speedy was entirely appropriate here. The article failed to assert any reason why the band may be notable according to WP:MUSIC, thus satisfying CSD-A7. Can you explain why you disagree with this? Cheers Nouse4aname (talk) 20:26, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for the reply, that clears things up for me, though I think A7 needs a rewording to reflect its intended purpose more clearly, As it stands, I feel it is quite open to the interpretation I made of it. I have nominated it for AfD now, and to be honest, these days I normally nominate most things for AfD rather than a spedy, but got a little lazy with this one! Have a good day. - Just curious. What would you think if I rewrote the article to be about a Tracy Byrd single of the same name that appears to be somewhat notable? Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • 22:35, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

About this article. As I commented yesterday, I don't mind moving it. Since you're the only other user who was involved in this discussion, I'll just ask you: Do you mind moving it? If not, I'll just do it. No need to get involved in offwikidrama. -- Nudve (talk) 20:17, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
Point 1
Ynhockey, If you don't like point one of my coaching philosophy, then you obviously do not understand it as I do because without it, all else is irrelevant. It is the absolute most important piece to being an admin, because somebody who understands it is an admin already. You see, being an admin, IMHO, is not about passing an RfA, but rather about having the right attitude. If you have the right attitude, then nothing else matters. If you have the wrong attitude, it doesn't matter if you write a hundred FA articles, participate at ANI, made a million vandal blocks, and contribute at every aspect of the project. Attitude is everything. If you have the right attitude about the project, then it doesn't matter if you write a zero FA's or ever participated at XfD or ever visited XfD---a person with the right attitude is the FIRST thing I look for at RfA. What does it mean to act like an admin? Simple, if you act like an admin, then you are acting like a decent human being. Take a look at my essay. Yes, I wrote it tonight, but it is what *I* mean about "acting like an admin." As for point 3, I doubt if we will ever agree there. You apparently believe one size fits all. That everybody should be exclusively an article builder and everything that detracts from that is to be frowned upon. I beleive that candidates should have experience elsewhere, and I encourage people to spread their wings---to areas that interest them.---Balloonman 00:56, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Rabat
About the disambiguation page for Rabat, "Rabat-Les-Trois-Seigneurs" is only an official name given by the french post administration in 1936 to avoid confusion with "Rabat" in Marocco. But the true name of the village wich is use locally and on all the historical and cultural documents referred in the article ( and also in Courbière valley) is "Rabat". Documents attest that Rabat was called "Ribat" (meaning a castle in arab) and then "Ravat" more than four century before "Ribat" (that becomes also Rabat) in Marocco. So I think that it is important for readers to know the true name of the village, even if the article title is the version given by french post administration (that is not used locally). If an anteriority rule have been apply by the administration, our village may still be called "Rabat" and Rabat in marocco change it's name as for instance "Rabat upon Bou-Regreg"... But diplomacy and size prevales on history. Rabat is important in french history because it is linked to the "Foix-Rabat" family that had the privilege to sit at the right of the french king since Henri IV that was the last count of Foix
