I'll be curious to see how the flora cabal reacts to your post. Excellent question. That's what I call getting to the ''root'' of the problem (pun intended). Also, I want to bring your attention to a claim on the guideline itself about there being consensus established for the notion that the scientific jargon is preferred. There has been some contention (back and forth reverts) with respect to that claim ... Your contributions are appreciated. --] (]) 00:37, 30 December 2008 (UTC) |

Talk pages are not forums
Welcome to Misplaced Pages! I am glad to see you are interested in discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Talk:Inventions in medieval Islam are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you. ScottJ (talk) 21:28, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Hello
Just a quick note to say that I am glad to see you still around. Cheers and good continuation! Rama (talk) 12:00, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Artemisia selengensis
A tag has been placed on Artemisia selengensis requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Misplaced Pages:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Techfast50 (talk) 22:18, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Plant article moves
Hi, Sonjaaa! I've seen your recent page moves of plant articles and wanted to drop by and leave a link or two for you to peruse. First, there's the flora naming convention, which the take-home message of is that scientific names are usually preferred for most flora articles with a few exceptions. The articles I've found so far that you moved all appear to be candidates for the scientific name. Also, there's a lot of disagreement over the proper capitalization of article titles that are at the common name and can be quite controversial to move a page to your preference without discussion. That information and links to others like it can be found at Misplaced Pages:Naming conventions#Animals, plants, and other organisms. Cheers, Rkitko 03:36, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
An article you created is about to be deleted: Tools which can help you
The article you created, Bowling_Solitaire is about to be deleted from Misplaced Pages.
There is an ongoing debate about whether your article should be deleted here:
The faster your respond, the better chance the article you created can be saved. This is because deletion debates only stay open for a few days, and the first comments are usually the most important.
There are several tools and other editors who can help you keep the page from being deleted forever:
- You can list the page up for deletion on Article Rescue Squadron. If you need help listing your page, add a comment on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.
- You can request a mentor to help explain to you all of the complex rules that editors use to get a page deleted, here: Misplaced Pages:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond on the deletion page.
- When try to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. Don't let these acronyms intimidate you.
Here is a list of your own acronyms you can use yourself: WP:Deletion debate acronyms which may support the page you created being kept.
Acronyms in deletion debates are sometimes incorrectly used, or ignore rules or exceptions. - You can merge the article into a larger article.
If your page is deleted, you still have many options available. Good luck! travb (talk) 03:24, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Oj-Po-Ot lang or Oj-Ot lang?
They're both correct... just which part are you speaking of. Oj.-Po.-Ot. lang. have two branches: Po. lang. (POT) and the Oj.-Ot. lang. (OJI). Po. lang. is then divided into two dialects: No. Po. and So. Po. Oj.-Ot. is then divided into two groups: No. Oj.-Ot. containing Algonquin (ALQ) and Oji-Cree (OJS), and So. Oj.-Ot. containing E. Oj. (OJG), C. Oj. (OJC), NW. Oj. (OJB), SW. Oj. (CIW) and Ot. (OTW). One can also say So. Oj.-Ot. contains Oj. and Ot., of which Oj. contains E. Oj., C. Oj., NW. Oj., SW. Oj. Take a look at the tree in the Oj.-Po.-Ot. lang. article. CJLippert (talk) 16:24, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
