My wheel-warring policy: |
Admins: If you see me make a logged action that you think I should not have done, I will not consider it wheel-warring if you undo it without asking for my permission. However, if I marked the action as being done after running a checkuser query, or as part of a sockpuppet investigation, you should ask me or another checkuser before undoing it. In any case, if you do revert one of my actions, I would appreciate it if you tell me that you did so. Thanks! |

Attack page
Why would you preserve an attack page directed towards you and show it out on your userpage for everybody to see? I would say that defeats the purpose of deleting it. -- IRP ☎ 21:08, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
- For humor. It shows how pathetic vandals are, and it's pretty darn funny. 2D 21:31, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Yaya Pagh Deletion
I really don't get why you say that Yaya Pagh is irrelevant. I'm her fan and I feel insulted. You can find her in tv shows and magazines all over in Brazil. You are prejudging her or what I wrote about her? Does she have to be a in a beauty pageant, a reality tv show girl or serial killer to be in wikipedia? Don't let her looks fool you, she could probably even beat you in chess.
I can start a petition to have her on wikipedia if its needed. Kat. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.116.163.237 (talk) 01:32, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
- 1) I didn't delete it. 2) it was deleted via WP:PROD, so you had five days to contest its deletion and 3) it was deleted almost four months ago. Why are you complaining now? J.delanoyadds 01:35, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
Four months ago? I created it today. Please help me if you can. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.116.163.237 (talk) 01:46, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
- Hrm? Oh, uncapitalized. Well, to begin with, you need to tell more about her. From the page that was there, I couldn't tell anything about her. Second, you need to provide some citations to reliable sources so that people know what is being said is true. Reading our guide to writing your first article may be helpful as well. J.delanoyadds 01:54, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
Four months? wow! I wrote about her today and after 5 minutes it was deleted and it had your name on. Just want her to know that it was me who made her be here. Help me! Tell me what I need to do.

I saw your comment on the blog that I help maintain. We would love another contributor; the site was my friend's idea, but he's not actually too involved with WP. We are getting featured here, and it preparation are trying to spiff up the site. I know that your administrative duties probably sap much of your time, but this need not use any more of it than necessary, or the similar set of links you maintain on your user page. Whatever you are able to do would be great, either just sending me a link to a cool diff when you see one, or writing posts with an account on the site. What do you think? Can you help us out? Neutrality of the Israeli Air Stike on Gaza page
Why do you feel the need to stress the fact that women and children were among the civillians killed in Gaza and not that there were women and children killed by the rockets and missles that had been fired by Hamas. You only mention the other side with light detail. I would like to suggest that you might focus on the Hamas attacks in a darker light. This is bothering me solely because I know some of the people who have been killed in the other attacks and yet your page indicates that those are not as important. Advice for fellow vandal fighter
Hello!
I recognized your name as somebody who often beats me to vandalism revert so I'm going to ask you for this piece of advice. I am long time Misplaced Pages user (since 2003 at least) but only relatively recent editor. I started editing because it disgusted me that anyone might feel the need to vandalize volunteer non-profit project like this. So I joined ranks of RC vandal patrollers and I'm doing my best to keep vandals in check. I've been using Twinkle to simplify and speed up vandal fighting process. But, I keep running into recommendations and opinions that next step in vandal fighting is Huggle. Sadly, it requires rollback permission which I don't have.
So my question is in 2 parts:
(1) As I see you use Huggle, can you tell me does it make that much difference, is it better/faster than Twinkle, basically, should I bother getting my hands on it?
(2) If yes, in your opinion as admin, do I stand a chance of getting rollback rights required for Huggle if I apply for it on Misplaced Pages:Requests for permissions? I understand that that editors with less than 500 main namespace edits rarely get the permission, but that does not exclude the possibility. My reasoning is that I might as well try to get it ASAP instead waiting till after 500 edits. Both easier for me and better for Misplaced Pages if I try now. In deciding on your answer, I invite you to check out my edits and to point out anything I'm doing wrong, especially if you decide to answer with negative response due to reason other than number of edits.
Thank you in advance --Melmann 00:34, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
- As a TPSer of JD, I say 1) yes yes and yes, 2) rollback granted. :-) Tan | 39 00:47, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for making this as painless as possible. Cheers!!!--Melmann 00:54, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

{{Throwaway account}}
Should I create that template? Do you recommend creating it or do you think I shouldn't? My plan is that it will be placed on userpages of apparent throwaway accounts. -- IRP ☎ 23:48, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
- Please, please don't. Unless the account themselves has said so, it's a total breach of WP:AGF. My account regularly goes for months at a time without editing and so do many others. – iridescent 00:18, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- Iridescent, I said "apparent throwaway accounts". You have the following cues to figure out if an account is a throwaway account:
- The account has made only a few edits (you have made many edits, so we can immediately tell that your account is not a throwaway account)
- The the last edit was made 4 months ago (possible for your account, but see statement #1 that I made about throwaway accounts)
- Iridescent, I said "apparent throwaway accounts". You have the following cues to figure out if an account is a throwaway account:
- When an account is NOT a throwaway account:
- If the account has made a significant amount of edits (which you have made many edits)
- If the last edit was only, let's say, a week ago (that would be too early to tag an account as a throwaway account)
- When an account is NOT a throwaway account:
- Remember that you can always remove the tag if the user resumes editing. -- IRP ☎ 01:28, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- Will someone reply? -- IRP ☎ 16:50, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- I'd have to agree with Iridescent. I myself did not contribute for some months leading up to December of 2007, and I don't know what I would have done if I had come back and seen a tag like that on my userpage. J.delanoyadds 16:51, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

- I think that's too difficult to say for sure. Many, many admins I have seen created an account, made a few edits, and then didn't make any for 6 months to a year, or even longer. Then they became more active, started getting involved in more and more areas, and eventually stood for RFA and passed. And that's just admins. In all honesty, I think the only times you could be assured that using that sort of template would be correct would also be times you could just use

If there is no current problem, why are we creating the template? Just for the hell of it? Unless an existing problem can be described, and shown how it can be solved (or ameliorated) by creation of this template, it should not be created. Tan | 39 17:27, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- It would alert users not to post messages on the talkpage of that account. If the user is unlikely to respond, then we should alert editors not to waste their time. -- IRP ☎ 17:32, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- Unnecessary. In all good-natured honesty, it sounds like you're reaching for a reason to create this template simply to be able to create a template. There is no problem with users wasting their time waiting for talk page responses that are not forthcoming. Tan | 39 17:34, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Dear J - I noticed that an IP contacted you on the 8th Oct complaining about reversions on said page. There appears to be a fairly long history of tl;dr insertions concerning sundry municipal misbehaviour, and the current version indeed contains a typical sample of an uncited (and possibly partially lifted) mega-paragraph. I'd be happy prepared to attempt to unravel the edits and reversions etc but thought I'd first better sort out with someone who knows the procedures etc as I'm not sure where to take this and if there isn't a more straightforward way of knocking this on the head. I've no particular reason at all to get involved other than chancing upon it but its all good experience :) Anyway, your advice would be appreciated. Ta. Plutonium27 (talk) 13:11, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- PS. What makes me unsure about how to proceed is the fact that the problem/s stem mostly from IPs contribs. if I shoulda taken this straight to a report/page pro/ANI or somewhere, apologies. Plutonium27 (talk) 13:16, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- PPS Oh and the IP mentioned at the top is Special:Contributions/208.186.134.103. Man, I am just not getting it together today am I... Plutonium27 (talk) 13:19, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
Me and Miszabot: the saga continues
Sigh. I'm trying to get Miszabot up and running at Misplaced Pages talk:Notability (music). Fortunately, it didn't work the first day, as I forgot to change its archival point. :) (I copied the template from the albums project, where you helped me before.) I fixed that. It didn't work last night, either. Can you possibly help me out with this again, or would you prefer that I drop this on somebody else? :) --Moonriddengirl 13:43, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know why it's not working, by all accounts, it seems to be fine. The only thing I could come up with was that it wanted the parameters in a particular order (?) so I changed them around to the order it shows on MiszaBot's howto page. Beyond that, I can't figure out what's going on. J.delanoyadds 16:55, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
