Kahramanmaraş is a city in southeastern Turkey (1990 pop. 229,066). The city lies on a plain at the foot of the Taurus Mountains. The city was a Hittite city-state c.1000 BCE. The city was called Germanikeia in the time of the Roman Empire. Kahramanmaraş is also known for its local football team, Kahramanmaraş FC.
