"Safety" is also a term used if someone farts. If someone farts, they must say "safety" before someone else says "doorknob". If someone says "doorknob" before the person who farted says "safety", everyone is allowed to beat the person until the person touches a door handle. The game is surprisingly well known within the USA, from Atlantic to Pacific coast. It's even found in parts of the U.K.
