DOOM 3 is a first person shooter computer game being developed by id Software and will be published by Activision. DOOM 3 is scheduled to be released in 2004 ("when it's done"); set in 2145 in a Union Aerospace Corporation research center on Mars, is a complete retelling of the original DOOM, with a completely new graphics and game engine. DOOM³ currently is available for pre-ordering; an official website with a trailer has been launched at http://www.doom3.com.

It is a remaking of the original DOOM series and will use a completely new and proprietary graphics engine.

The main new engine features of DOOM 3 will be unified dynamic lighting and shadow-casting; this, combined with its support for normal mapping of all textures, results in very realistic looking enemies and environments.
