Dublin Clontarf was a parliamentary constituency in Ireland, which from 1977 to 1981 was represented in Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish parliament or Oireachtas. Covering the Clontarf, Baldoyle, Coolock and Raheny areas of North Dublin, it elected three deputies (Teachtaí Dála, commonly known in English as TDs) to the 21st Dáil, using the Single Transferable Vote method of proportional representation (PR-STV).

History

A similarly named constituency existed from 1918 to 1922, for elections of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, but the Member of Parliament elected chose not to take his seat at Westminster, and joined the revolutionary First Dáil.

Boundaries

The Dáil constituency was created by the Electoral (Amendment) Act 1974, and used at the 1977 general election. It consisted of the following wards in the county borough of Dublin:

Baldoyle, Beann Éadair A, Beann Éadair B, Clontarf East A, Clontarf East B, Clontarf East C, Coolock A, Coolock B, Coolock C, Coolock D, Raheny A, Raheny B.
