'''FTW''' (or '''4TW''') is an ] meaning ''For The Win'', or sometimes; ''For ] Win''. Both are commonly used by ], especially ]s.

Much like ], it originated as a gaming term. It usually meant something that helped in the goal of winning, and therefore was "for the win". These days it is more broadly used as meaning a beneficial thing. TTW is also used as a past particple, meaning "Takes The Win".

FTW has also long been used by the counter-culture types to mean "Fuck the World".

Possibly derived from the popular gameshow, "Hollywood Squares" where contestants attempting to complete the Tic Tac Toe of celebrities by saying "I'll take *famous person* for the win".
