Gutierrez was born in Cuba, but political pressures forced him into exile to the United States, where he spent several years in New Jersey and eventually settled in Miami, Florida. After several years in the banking industry, Gutierrez had built a strong name in the Cuban community, which led to his involvement in politics. For over 30 years presidents, senators, and many international politicians have consulted with Gutierrez about Cuban issues. Gutierrez has run hundreds of political campaigns that have led to the election of national and local political leaders.
