== Countries of the UK ==

Hello Vintagekits, I notice your argument over the term countries of the UK. I wonder why you actually care about the term. As someone who is a Scottish nationalist I take your opinion of my country as a little bit of an insult. Sure, we would be more of a country if we were indepedent, as I beleve we should be, but nevertheless, I live in a country called Scotland. All this constituent rubbish actually takes away from my countries heritage. I actually know where your coming from as I'm part Irish, but please don't try and take away the fact that Scotland, my country, is actually a country. Yours, ] (]) 01:15, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

IBO world champions

Before you ask, Caribbean ordered another laydown of point of views (if this is the term) about the flags (nationalities) of the boxers, at WP:BOXING, under discussions. Please participate! Regards, claudevsq (talk) 04:27, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Román Martínez

Martínez is sort of a tuned-down and less-chiny version of Yuriorkis Gamboa, he usually begins a bit slowly. But once he is hit, he disregards defense and pursues his opponent around the ring, engaging on the offensive. Most of his knockouts come from acumulation of damage, but he has decent one-punch power. His boxing and defense have improved during the last year, because has received some training from Iván Calderón. I'm not sure if he will beat Cook in his home turf, but if we see the Román Martínez that fought Daniel Jiménez, Nicky is in for one hell of a fight. - Caribbean~H.Q. 20:24, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Nice, thanks for that. I could use my Commons account to create a category for him if you upload more. Perhaps our boxers should travel to the UK more, we are on a shortage of free images, Calderón and Daniel Santos are missing a mugshot. I may be able to snap a few of Wilfredo Vázquez, Jr. and Kenny Galarza in the future, but the champs usually stay in Puerto Rico or go to New York, not Florida. It must be those gigantic "gringo" lizards... ;-) - Caribbean~H.Q. 18:50, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Told you, the kid is more dangerous when he is hurt. Nicky should have tried to finish it in the third. So, who you got on Khan-Barrera? I'm under the impression that Marco might get old tonight, but Amir has to watch his chin in there. - Caribbean~H.Q. 22:06, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
So many negatives for Barrera. I was at the weigh in and he looked soft and disinterested. But surely he cant be so shot that Khan can beat him. 50/50 fight. My man Matthew Macklin had an awesome win tonight.--Vintagekits (talk) 22:18, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
I read somewhere that he only trained hard for two weeks, that is not good for a fighter of his age, but Khan does have a questionable chin. 50/50 sounds fair. Third time is the charm for Macklin, a TKO over the British titleholder is nice step for a rising prospect. - Caribbean~H.Q. 22:48, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Macklin stopped drinking and is now looking good. He was trying to hard to "try and be Irish" which happens a lot to guys in Britain with Irish parents - they think they have to be even more Irish then them to get accepted so Macklin was street fighting and drinking all the time - he has matured and this has now stopped and it showed. he looked really really good.--Vintagekits (talk) 01:45, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Certainly, picking up that belt should open him more to the international market in the not-so-distant future as well. Surely you want to see that Duddy matchup in the future. By the way, John displayed some interesting new features in his last fight against Vanda. I was partialy right abot the Khan-Barrera matchup, Marco just didn't have it tonight, cut or not the reflexes are just gone. Maybe he should hang the gloves, but that King contract could be troublesome. Today has certainly been an entertaining day for me, first the boxing card and now I'm watching a World Baseball Classic game where Puerto Rico is defeating the United States 7-1 going into the eight inning. - Caribbean~H.Q. 02:12, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Duddy is moving down to LM. Glad you have a good day. Celtic v Rangers today for me!--Vintagekits (talk) 11:44, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Football has been growing in me as well, I have seen several of the COCACAF League's games. Enjoy! - Caribbean~H.Q. 20:19, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Passports

No, a separate passport isn’t part of the Puerto Rican nationality, the United States only granted us what was stated in the original Spanish Crown's decree. By 1898, Luis Muñoz Rivera and other autonomists had managed to establish an autonomous government in Puerto Rico, and were seeking more freedom, including that sort of diplomatic power. However, the Spanish-American War and subsequent invasion brought everything to a halt. Under the Treaty of Paris, the United States were forced to recognize all the royal decrees issued to Cuba and Puerto Rico, both limited ones like provincial currency and limitless ones like nationality and some laws. But they weren’t particularly interested in granting more power to their new "war trophies". So, in summary, the nationality is recognized and certificates are issued by the government of Puerto Rico to this date, but we have yet to acquire our own passport and the United States doesn’t seem interested in getting involved in the matter. - Caribbean~H.Q. 19:15, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Another more simple view: Puerto Ricans have been United States citizens since 1917 (the 92d anniversary of the law that granted citizenship was last Monday) and travel on a United States passport. Puerto Rican citizenship is domiciliary in nature (the Puerto Rican citizenship law states that a U.S. citizen who resides for a year or more in PR is a citizen of Puerto Rico). Due to a convoluted PR Supreme Court opinion issued by a now deceased associate justice before the Court found out that the Puerto Rico citizenship law had been passed, the Puerto Rico State Department issues a "certificate of Puerto Rico citizenship" to all who ask. The certificate's only practical use is that it is suitable for framing but won't get you past TSA or other federal officials. Only a few hundred of PR's 3.9 million U.S. citizens have requested one and the current Secretary of State has stated that his signature will never appear on one, but respectful of the Court decision delegating that task to his Under Secretary. The Court now has a majority of pro-statehood justices and most observers agree that the prior opinion has less than a snowball's chance in hell of not being overturned. Pr4ever (talk) 13:42, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

I guess that would be the anexionist point of view. - Caribbean~H.Q. 01:58, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
I've listed your "golden boy" here. Still not good enough to beat Ireland in the medal table ;) --Vintagekits (talk) 13:37, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Ah, so you already know of Jonathan González? And here we expected to surprise the amateur ranks ;-) Though, that won't help, the kid is just ridiculously fast and deceptively strong. Not everyone can make McWilliams look like Hugo Cázares, not to mention that sparring with Juanma won't hurt (figuratively) either. I will publish a biography for him after he wins a significant adult tournament. - Caribbean~H.Q. 22:37, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, they was a lot of coverage of the Youth championships in Ireland (because Moylette was tipped to do well) and they showed all the finals as well. I'll keep an eye on him.--Vintagekits (talk) 22:54, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Thats brilliant. Now two more things 1. How do I centre the arrow cos I cant get it to work, and 2. Suggest a colour for the "new entry" and can you give me the cide for that colour.--Vintagekits (talk) 22:49, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
You will need to use the <center> template individually (as used above); align="center" doesn't seem to be working in this format. A color? I'm not sure, Boxrec uses these golden "new" bubbles, I believe the code for that would be #FFFFCC. - Caribbean~H.Q. 23:14, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Daniel Peret

Can you please explain the deletion of this article. This was a biography of a professional sportsperson who has had in excess of 30 professional fight and fought for the Baltic Boxing Union Heavyweight title. Also the article was referenced. This doesnt seem like a candidate for a speedy delete.--Vintagekits (talk) 14:55, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

The article there did not explain any of that and instead referred to nicknames and dubious facts cited to forum posts. I can userfy it for you if you're willing to clean it up. Stifle (talk) 15:11, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
Go on then. But I thought it referenced his BoxRec record.--Vintagekits (talk) 16:44, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Duddy & BoxRec

Take a look at Duddy's record on Boxrec: http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=213891&cat=boxer. It appears the whole nationality issue has been resolved. Duddy has an Irish flag by his name. I intend to remove the BoxRec section from the Duddy site but I thought I'd bring it to your attention before I do so considering our past dispute on this issue.MKil (talk) 14:39, 16 March 2009 (UTC)MKil

Celestino Caballero

The lead is not correct on this article is it, did Dunne not win the WBA title? BigDunc 14:22, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Just in from the fight - wow! Caballero, is the "super champion" because he has three two of the main belts, Dunne is the "standard champion".--Vintagekits (talk) 16:02, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
According to this he has one or am I missing something? BigDunc 18:17, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
he has the IBF and WBA.--Vintagekits (talk) 18:49, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Duddy, boxrec

If you need any help with boxing let me know, but unfortunately boxrec did not really resolve anything on duddy problem, i'd not worry about them as they are never2b trusted, just look at what majority says of him & what he thinks of him, nobody can argue what nationality he thinks he is.

Proposed deletion of Merey Akshalov

Thanks for adding the source. I'm trying to resolve the backlog at Category:All unreferenced BLPs, and have had arguments that PROD is a suitable way to address it. I know it's easy to fix one or a few articles, but it just doesn't scale up to 1000s. Kevin (talk) 23:15, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
