Regarding Tony Spinner, you stated you need help to make sure the article stays. I think that's what I just did... --Blanchardb--timed 13:00, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

YouTube Links

You are correct. Normally YouTube links should be avoided. For example, you should never use YouTube in a citation. However, note this: WP:ELNO says you should not link to social networking sites or user-submitted content sites "except for a link to an official page of the article's subject" and as long as this link follows the rules set forth in WP:EL. Furthermore, one probably should not add a link to a page unless it adds something of value. I looked at McCurdy's YouTube page, and it did have a lot of content on it that might be useful for someone interested in the topic. Therefore, I think in this case, a link to her YouTube channel would be appropriate. For a quick summary of YouTube links, take a look at WP:YOUTUBE. 青い(Aoi) (talk) 20:52, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

MySpace links follow the same guidelines. First, MySpace should normally not be allowed to be linked as a citation. It may, however, be linked ONLY if you are linking to the artist's official profile AND if there is enough relevant content on the page for it to be useful to someone interested on the topic. I have not looked at McCurdy's myspace, but if you feel it is relevant to the topic, then feel free to add it in (subject, of course, to the approval of other users). 青い(Aoi) (talk) 20:58, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
Never mind, I see you've already readded it. 青い(Aoi) (talk) 20:59, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
You are free to use your own discretion, but the link looks fine to me. 青い(Aoi) (talk) 21:05, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Sorry if this whole issue is confusing you. I clarified this issue with User:Piano non troppo, who informed me that MySpace and other social networking sites are allowed only if they use MySpace (or whatever the service might be) as their "official" web site. Nathan Kress, for example, uses MySpace as his official site, (he does not have an official website elsewhere) so the use of MySpace is appropriate there. In cases where a person HAS an official website other than MySpace, etc., a MySpace link is not necessary. If a person does not have an official website but has a variety of other social networking sites, then only one of these external sites is necessary, which is why I made edits to Malese Jow's article. 青い(Aoi) (talk) 14:06, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Which is why we do everything on a case by case basis. 青い(Aoi) (talk) 14:13, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Please review my material

Hi. You spurred me to write the guidelines I use evaluating a MySpace external link site. (I've actually been encouraging editors to explain their reasoning in a formal way, so that their assumptions are easier to discuss, so this is part of a bigger plan.)

I realize it's not very simple to read...but...this is really tough. There are a lot of people with different reasons for adding MySpace external links. I wonder if you'd have a look at what I just wrote. Let me know what you think? It would be helpful. (Oh, and you can be honest, professional editors have hides like rhinos.)
