Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

semi-protection, tendentious editing from IP addresses who are abusive to those seeking moderatated views. Kransky (talk) 01:47, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- Note that the white-supremacist editor above is violating WP:POINT by vandalizing reliable responses to victim blaming regarding this incident, and abusing his cultivated status on wikipedia in order to pursue revisionism. he has engaged in this vandalism before.70.112.199.223 (talk) 01:54, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- This would be the tendentious IP editor Kransky is referring to. Accusing editors, reliable sources, and other commentators of being "racists" and "white supremacists" sympathisers is not condusive to collaborative editing and contravenes WP:AGF, WP:NPA, and most seriously WP:BLP - to name a few. Could administrators please advise whether this is the best place to seek advice? thanks --Merbabu (talk) 02:02, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Full-protection vandalism, Nonstop Heavy Vandalism. SuperSilver901 01:22, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- Note: It's heavy on wrestling articles for some reason. I would advocate protection, though I don't know if full protection is necessary. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 01:42, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- It is a bit unnecessary for a full protection but I was getting very annoyed with them. One person protected it for ONE DAY! Is there any possible way that you could extend it a bit?--SuperSilver901 01:47, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Cornell College (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
semi-protection. There has been an upswing in recent additions that violate NPOV and are uncited. Criticisms related to employees of the college, campus policy, and members of the board of trustees have appeared on this page in the past, but do not belong here. Further vandalism is expected especially related to an unpopular building renovation on campus, several Greek groups changing status, and additional changes in college administrators after short terms in their positions. The problem is made worse by how IP addresses are assigned on campus which would make blocking IPs without blocking the entire student body impossible.O76923 (talk) 05:24, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
List of characters on 6teen (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Indefinite semi-protection vandalism, Seven articles, Caitlin Cooke, Jonesy Garcia, Nikki Wong, Jude Lizowski, Jen Masterson, Wyatt Williams, and Starr (6teen), were recently merged into this one per an AfD discussion that was closed as a speedy merger. The seven articles mentioned are all targets for repeated additions of unsourced information and fan speculation, and now as redirects, this page will recieve a hashing of all of that. As such, it needs semi-protection to protect against the repeated vandalism that it will undoubtably recieve. See the above articles for proof of this case. The Earwig 04:47, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Here We Go Again (album) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection, This page is for an upcoming album of singer Demi Lovato and it seems to be a target of unregistered users who are constantly placing unsourced and unreliable information in the article, specifically in the "Confirmed Tracks" section. There are hidden comment notifications in the section stating to not add information to the section without a reliable source but it's not stopping many unregistered IP users from adding unconfirmed tracks at an often manner. It's safe to say around 90%+ of the edits from unregistered users are adding the unsourced information and not adding beneficial info. I am suggesting this article be temporarily semi-protected until this information can be confirmed. The album is due to be released on July 21, 2009, but I would say a confirmed tracklist should be released by the end of the month. . Rockin56 (talk) 02:33, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Current requests for unprotection
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Here is the source that it charted. ----TrEeMaNsHoE (talk) 22:56, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
- That is a pay site; I cannot access the chart to verify. Tan | 39 22:58, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
I have anew source. Look under L for "Like a Surgeon". You may need to make the page bigger by pushing . At the end of the song's article, it says RBH which means R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. Then youll see the number 92. ----68.21.36.152 (talk) 00:43, 6 June 2009 (UTC) Oops, forgot to sign in, that last comment was me. ----TrEeMaNsHoE (talk) 00:45, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- "Like a Surgeon" has indeed charted. The song now satisfies the inclusion guidelines. — Σxplicit 19:57, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page
ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Temporary semi-protection, Repeated malicious tagging of recent death. Threat of process may be sufficient, it's just a matter of respect, both for the personal subjects of articles as well as the overall editorial process. Lycurgus (talk) 12:58, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
