John Robert Roach (b. July 31, 1921 in Prior Lake, Minnesota, d. July 11, 2003 in Saint Paul, Minnesota) was the sixth Archbishop and eighth Bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. His archepiscopate began when he succeeded Leo Binz on May 28, 1975 and ended with his retirement on September 8, 1995. He was succeeded by Harry Flynn, taking up the rank of Archbishop ad personam. He died on July 11, 2003 and was awarded the title Archbishop Emeritus. In the last months of his life he was an outspoken critic of the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
