Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

User talk:808-Thug (edit | ] | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
full-protection, User keeps blanking his own talk page after one message without any reason whatsoever. --Taylor Karras (talk) 03:48, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
- Declined – User talk pages are not protected except in response to severe or continued vandalism. Users are allowed to remove messages from their own talk page (with the exception of block notices). tedder (talk) 03:59, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Sigma Alpha Epsilon (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection High revert-edit ratio. Constant reverts of edits by ips of unregistered users with IP's tied to campus locations, may be due to subject matter, and addition of recent events, with reverts and edits without explanation. Protection only from unregistered users will likely prevent further reverts without disucssion on the talk page. Thank you IlliniGradResearch (talk) 03:10, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Singapore Changi Airport (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Persistent and repeated vandalism by several anon IPs with regards to remove a certain city name (i.e. Kuala Lumpur) from the list of destination cities/airports without any given valid reason, the city name had been included as per consensus on WP:AIRPORT. Dave1185 (talk) 20:20, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
- Question: The only discussion I found at WT:WikiProject Airports regarding KL was this. How is this related? In other words, I'm having trouble finding the consensus the IPs are fighting. tedder (talk) 22:28, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Australian Pink Floyd Show (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protect. High level of IP/new user vandalism, likely coming from a fan forum. This page just went through a dispute which was settled with a unanimous agreement to remove a specific member's external link to their personal site, but that all pictures remain as they do not violate any copyright or other problems. Despite this, a forum's members (I assume most are coming from this fan forum. They sign up specifically to make this edit) keep making new accounts and arbitrarily remove content that has to do with Ian Cattell (A band member that fans seem to dislike). They are refusing to use the talk page or follow wiki policy despite me announcing to use the talk page to discuss changes every time I revert an arbitrarily made edit. ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ ¢ 16:22, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. That's two times in three days, both from the same user. Enigma 18:50, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
- Just a note on that, look back further than two days please. It has been an ongoing dispute since early May. Despite a week of locking, and numerous discussions at the content noticeboard that ended with major contributors agreeing on a plan on dealing with this, new users continue to sign up specifically to edit this page and remove content on one specific band member. If it continues unabated I will re-list this for preferably permanent semi-protection -- ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ ¢ 21:31, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

- Declined. I see your frustration, Floydian. And it was a close call. But, I think you are overstating how much this has been discussed - and perhaps underestimating your own ownership issues. If this persists for another week or so, bring back here. FWIW, there's no way a page like this would ever be permanently semi-protected. Tan | 39 22:15, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
- Perhaps overstating its discussion, but the decisions arrived at in those discussions were clear, logical, and in the best interests of the article. My ownership issues are also for the better of the page. I do not generally edit it (Although I gave it an overhaul recently when I wandered back upon it and found it in the midst of an edit war), and I have no motivation for taking sides. I like the band, yes, but I know nothing of their internal conflicts or what is going on with the member at issue. My only interest is keeping the article's broad coverage, and keeping this forum that has admitted to private discussions with the band from making a decision on what they want the article to look like, and incessantly editing to meet their desired outcome. Most of all, I just want changes discussed on the talk pages when they are based on opinions of who is, or who isn't a "member" of the band. Hopefully the latest attack is just part of the winding down and new users won't continue to jump in. If they do I will come back in a week. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ ¢ 22:29, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Full-protect for a very short time. The tag {{NPOV}} keeps being removed (vandalism) under the guise of there being "no dispute," and put back. 20:22, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- The POV tag has been placed disruptively by someone objecting to the consensus outcome of a SIX MONTH mediation on the page name move. The individual knew of the mediation and did not participate. He has failed to justify his opposition with respect to the relevant policies. Tagging the article because of the agreed name-change, made in accord with WP procedure is disruptive editing. - The tag has now been restored by a different editor. Peter jackson (talk) 10:34, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Current requests for unprotection
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
The Paradiso Girls (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Trock (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Trock articles were repeatedly created and deleted; i don't know the quality of these articles but i assume they were not up to par. More importantly Trock does not belong as an independent page, but rather as a subsection of Doctor Who fandom, much like Wrock exist within the Harry Potter fandom page. However I request Trock to be unprotected so it can serve as a redirect page. However if you feel that the Time Lord Rock section of the Doctor Who fandom article, which i have created does not meet Misplaced Pages's standards the point is moot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Darnedfrenchman (talk • contribs) 21:28, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
- The "genre" isn't notable, simply because it exists only as a self-described term by the bands playing it. Urban Dictionary (used to reference the term) isn't a valid source as anyone can create a definition for anything. --Ckatzspy 23:03, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
Thats how all genres start off. Wizard Rock is the same exact idea only about a more popular series. I removed the Urban Dictionary reference in exchange for Doctor Who Magazine Issue 410. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Darnedfrenchman (talk • contribs) 00:01, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
- Please take this to Talk:Doctor Who fandom; keep in mind Misplaced Pages is not for things made up one day, and it needs verifiable and reliable sources, not urbandictionary or a fansite/fan magazine. tedder (talk) 00:12, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
Current requests for edits to a protected page
ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Semi-protect. One individual with different IP accounts (who has been blocked many times under different accounts for vandalism) keeps re-adding redundant mentions of Indian films being submitted to the Oscars in the filmography of this actor. It is clearly irrelevant and redundant, because, even if the films were nominated for the Oscar, it would have nothing to do with the actor himself and his filmography as he doesn't receive the nomination (basically, even the filmmakers do not get nominated for the award in the Best Foreign Language Film catgory). He is now reverting me and not only the removal of this submitions but also other edits of mine including formats and other fixes. Shahid • 16:32, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Chloe Smith (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protect, an unregistered and new user (possible the same individual) keeps changing the page to say that Chloe Smith is not yet an MP. This is not the case as British MPs take office the instant the result is declared. A simple look at the pages of previous by-election winners (Edward Timpson and Lindsay Roy) shows that they took office on the day of the election. Despite a request for a discussion on the users' talk pages and the article's talk page the unregistered and new users keep changing the page. I think the page should be protected from such contributions until this issue is resolved. --Philip Stevens (talk) 12:57, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Resume semi-protection There has been an ongoing problem in this article wherein a single anonymous editor with a dynamic IP address starting with 217.112. repeatedly keeps inserting unsourced material and refuses to discuss. Because the user cannot be blocked due to the rotating IP address, the article was previously semi-protected to stop this user. However it appears the user simply waited patiently until the protection expired and then proceeded to re-insert the same contested material again. Request the semi-protection be reinstituted, this time probably longer.Legitimus (talk) 12:12, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Previous Request:This page was deleted and protected more than a year ago due to vandalism and not enough notability. The Marapets site has gotten much larger, now with nearly 3 million members, and its Neopets biggest rival. I have a long article with at least 25 citations to prove Marapets notability. Please unprotect Marapets so that I can create the article once again. & Page Creation Notice:I have made the new page for Marapets in my directory as you requested. Please review it and let me know what you decide. I have gathered at least 40 citations with enough News articles and Game sites references to support the page creation.
