Kevin Pereira co-hosting Attack of the Show

Kevin Pereira (born December 28, 1982) is co-host of Attack of the Show! (formerly The Screen Savers) on G4 (formerly G4techTV), an American variety television program broadcast live every weeknight from Los Angeles, California.

During high school, Pereira hosted Pointless Audio under the pseudonym Captain Immy, an Internet radio show about gaming using the RealAudio format. The show featured many prank calls and was hosted on such gaming sites as PlanetQuake and ShugaShack (now ShackNews). It later evolved into Pointless TV, and finally LickMySweaty.com.

Pereira also created short films for his video production class. One of his projects featured on his now defunct comedy site, LickMySweaty.com, earned him three California Media Festival awards and allowed him to gain a full grant to the Academy of Arts College in San Francisco, California, where he studied film and television production for three and a half months.

After working as a network administrator at an Internet service provider for five years and a government television network, he pursued a career at G4. He is in charge of many segments on Attack of the Show including It Came from eBay.

Pereira has hosted or been a guest on many other G4 programs including Pulse, Arena, and G4tv.com. He also appeared on Channel One News on October 14, 2005 in a segment called New Technology.

Kevin Pereira Q&A

So where do you come from?

I’m a California kid all the way. Born in San Leandro; raised in Antioch, and currently treading in the diseased cesspool that is “Tinsel Town.”

What has been your defining moment thus far?

I don’t know that I’ve had a defining “moment” thus far. There was that time I blacked out in a massage parlor in Beijing… yet I think that’s more of a memorable anecdote, rather than a moment that truly defined something; let alone me.

What's the geekiest thing you've ever done?

The Threshold – that’s the WWIV BBS I was sysop of for a few short years. I’ve thrown LAN parties (which are almost a cultural norm these days, but back then we were just “geeks”); I’ve collected comic books; but I think the geekiest thing I’ve ever done would have to be leaving everything I know behind to work for a television network about video games.

What kinds of pop culture do you spend good money on? Why?

I spend more money on food then I do on pop culture. Movies? Download. Music? Download. Video games? Hey, I work at G4… come on.

What technology could you not live without?

TCP/IP and broadband. I’m cheating a bit here and lumping two “technologies” into one… but if I HAD to choose it’d simply be TCP/IP. You could offer me a $50,000 offline-only gaming monster of a computer with a 200” plasma screen and 12.7 channel surround sound; OR, you could offer me a 486 with a meg of RAM and internet connectivity… guess what? I’m taking the computer that’s internet capable every time.
