Tina Turner (born Annie Mae Bullock November 26, 1939) is an R&B singer and occasional actress probably best known for for her appearances with the Ike and Tina Turner Review and for her solo song "What's Love Got to Do With It ?"
Tina is noted for her overpowering stage presence -- long legs, big hair, and emotional voice. In addition to singing, she has appeared in several movies, notably as the Gypsy Acid Queen in the film of The Who's Tommy and in Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome with Mel Gibson.
Tina Turner was discovered and named by Ike Turner to whom she was married. Tina finalized her divorce in 1978 after 18 years of marriage, accusing Turner of abuse and drug addiction in her autobiography I, Tina, which was made into the film What's Love Got to Do with It. Turner, a noted pioneer of rock and roll, started a solo career in 1984 with the album Private Dancer.
Ike and Tina Turner also recorded a mythical single "River Deep, Mountain High" with Phil Spector.
