| Danyang is located in the south part of Jiangsu Province and is one of the advanced counties (cities) among that of South Jiangsu Province. It has a total area of 1,059 sq. km and has a population of 890,000. As one of the key cities at the Yangtze Delta opening to the outside world, Danyang has a strong economic and social development trend since the new century came. In 2007, the GDP and per capita GDP of Danyang reached 35.7 billion yuan (US$4.7 billion) and 44,242 yuan (US$6,061) respectively.
