It has been suggested that this article be merged with Gun safety. (Discuss) Proposed since September 2009. |
Weapon handling refers to regulations regarding work with weapons.
Correct weapon handling includes mainly safety issues such as performing
- Hand over a weapon (i.e. Is there still a round in the chamber (Is the Weapon "cleared")?)
- The way of carrying the weapon (e.g. Gun barrel pointing up or down, Keep the finger off the trigger)
- Safety against unauthorized use
- Is the weapon on "safe" when not in use?
- Maintenance and its knowledge etc.
This is done to minimize or prevent risk of death or injury to the operator, people in the vicinity, and damage to the weapon itself.
