Because of the volatile and tenacious nature of certain editors whose stated or subliminal goal is to detract from Jehovah's Witnesses at any and every opportunity, I am making it my goal to recommend to new editors to review the Misplaced Pages's policies:
*] - no original research
*] - verifiability
*] - Misplaced Pages: neutral point of view (this one is critical to JW pages edits especially)
*] - Civility

We do have to keep in mind that Misplaced Pages is not the proper forum for any form of proselytizing. This is an academic endeavor, and to make it worthwhile for Jehovah's Witnesses to contribute positively, abiding by the rules of the forum and sticking to the facts will help us not only keep these articles and the discussions behind them free from ineffective and off-topic banter, but present a respectable product that addresses all sides, but keeps them in perspective.

It is best to ignore insults and off-topic discussions, addressing only the pertinent points so as to reach a consensus regarding the content of these pages. If you must address them, it's best to simply cite the Misplaced Pages standards and redirect your focus to content and format. I hope my suggestions help. I would recommend that you substantiate your existence as a real and separate person, lest the accusations, baseless as they may be, that you are a sock puppet (see WP:SOCK for official policy) of Retcon and/or Netministrator. If you are using sock puppets, please use one and only one in editing any article related to Jehovah's Witnesses to eliminate accusations of a conspiratory nature against JWs who may be editing here.

Warm regards, CobaltBlueTony 17:39, 16 December 2005 (UTC)

What are you talking about? Sock puppet? Really?! How do you suggest I substanitate my existence? I am a girl out in Portland, Oregon that has never edited before or even seen the topic on Jehovah's Witnesses until now. Please advise, thanks for your help. (I think?)IP law girl|

First, make sure you are signed into Misplaced Pages.
Second, make sure to simply sign your comments in discussion pages and talk pages with 4 tildes (~~~~). This provides your logged in user name and the date and time (based on the server). Note that your comment, in edit mode, is signed with ], and not with ]. Typing ] attempts to refer to an article on Misplaced Pages called IP_law_girl, which isn't actually an encyclopedia-worthy entry (no offense); adding User: (]) references your user page. You may wish to investigate how to change your signature to be customized to your liking, if you have an interest in that.
Third, editing your user page (not this talk page) to briefly introduce yourself, or make other customizations to it, will add to your legitimacy. The only way we can deflect false accusations on this forum is to maintain our composure, adhere to the guidelines of this forum, and never make it personal with any editor with whom you disagree.

Editing Jehovah's Witnesses articles

Because of the volatile and tenacious nature of certain editors whose stated or subliminal goal is to detract from Jehovah's Witnesses at any and every opportunity, I am making it my goal to recommend to new editors to review the Misplaced Pages's policies:

  • WP:NOR - no original research
  • WP:V - verifiability
  • WP:NPOV - Misplaced Pages: neutral point of view (this one is critical to JW pages edits especially)
  • WP:CIV - Civility
