Band performed as itself on several episodes of Rescue me, and a wiki page should be used both to discuss its role on a hit show and as a real band, fronted by one of the stars of rescue me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.161.84.189 (talkcontribs)

Nom con

It was deleted as it was claiming to be promoting a business, but it is not it is refering to a convention, I used the same format as Eirtakon, another convention in Ireland, I do not see why this page should be deleted, when eirtakon is allowed on here, as they are the same types of funtions,

Genesisgoboom

  • Seems to me to be a relatively standard speedy deletion. There is no indication from the article why the subject is important to a general encyclopedia. All it states is that a convention will occur next year and that the website for said convention is under construction. If and when the convention occurs and there is coverage of it by reliable sources you may recreate the article. If you like, I can place a copy of the article in your userpage or email it to you. Protonk (talk) 20:24, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

If you could email it to me that would be great, I will hold off on resubiting it till the convention is finished then

TATP Benchmark

The article was removed by PROD.

The article is relevant and up-to date. It describes a general method and a non-commercial and properly maintained software on sourceforge.

Awolski (talk) 07:31, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Done However, the article could end up at AfD because of the notability issues cited in the prod. You might want to check out Misplaced Pages:Notability for ideas on how to show notability.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 21:42, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

H2Olympia

My current re-write is at User:MemeGirl/H2Olympia. I didn't have enough notability information in the articl and so was deleted using speedy delete. I then added quite a bit more. The group has had 2 name changes during it's inception, both are cited in the reference materials. (It's Still the Water to H2Oly: Artesian Well Advocates to H2Olympia: Artesian Well Advocates). There is not currently a source for the EXACT current name, but it's essentially the same group.

MemeGirl MemeGirl (talk) 23:41, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

So are you asking for the original article to be restored, or for someone to look at your rewrite, or what? I'm a bit confused. Thanks!--Fabrictramp | talk to me 15:49, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
Looks like you're getting help on your talk page. I'll mark this as Resolved--Fabrictramp | talk to me 14:28, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Tashkent

I think my contributions would make the Tashkent page more useful and utility of the page would increase. The information was unique, Lately updated, and most usefull for any body interested in Tashkent. A can not even imagine that a sane human being would delete that. Only Robot can do. The links were not against the policy of Misplaced Pages.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Harleytourism (talkcontribs)

The Tashkent article itself wasn't deleted, so this doesn't fall under our scope here. When another editor changes your contributions and you disagree with their changes, you can talk about it on the article's talk page, ask the editor involved for an explanation, and if those two methods fail, follow the instructions at Misplaced Pages:Dispute resolution. (A friendly piece of advice is that you'll get a bit farther on this if you read WP:CIVIL, which discourages things like questioning the sanity of others and calling them robots.) Hope that helps! --Fabrictramp | talk to me 15:48, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
Actually, this is a case where WP:AGF can help: There is a cultural difference between Americans and people from other areas in the world. When someone in Uzbekistan says " can not imagine ...", that may very well be what they mean. (The new user was probably honestly baffled by the deletion; and for a new user, it may not not be easy to know which edits are performed manually, and which by bots.) An American, on the other hand, habitually translates such a statement to "you are insane!", which is very convenient because it gives him (or her — gotta be cautious here!) the attested right to take that as an offense and to sue the other person. Anyway, I'm not sure the new user sees this reply, so I'll leave a note on their talk page. — Sebastian 17:09, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Bigairbag

I would like to know why my entry for Bigairbag was deleted. I put a note {holdon} as requested and explained quite clear why do i think the entry should NOT be deleted. Why the entry was deleted Without providing an explanation on myTalk page?

Simeona Petkova

Your best bet is to ask the deleting administrator, Stifle (talk · contribs). All we could tell you here is exactly what is on the page's log.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 21:26, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
Another thought, after a conversation with Sebastian. If you're only looking for an explanation, talking to Stifle is the way to go. If you'd like the page restored, let us know and we'll be happy to do it. Neither Sebastian or I see that the page clearly met the speedy deletion criteria.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 13:58, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

¡Arcadia!

this page was deleted immediately after posting without even given the chance to be changed and allowed to add things to the page honestly the administrator was being a dick not giving this page a chance — Preceding unsigned comment added by ArcadiaBand (talkcontribs)

Not done There are a lot of issues here, so it's probably best if I leave a detailed explanation on your talk page. In short, restoring a page about your band that's been protected after you created it four times is outside of our scope here.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 16:33, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Stop erasing links before knowing who we are and what we do!

ROME REPORTS

You keep erasing the external links that I have placed for Vatican City and pointing at ROME REPORTS, which is an ACCREDITED NEWS AGENCY OF THE VATICAN itself. We do have special agreement with the VATICAN TV to use their images in order to provide people with accurate and timely news about the Vatican and the Pope. THESE NEWS ARE FREE. Please restore the link. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Palio News (talkcontribs)

This seems to be an editing issues, not an article deletion issue. I'd suggest reading Misplaced Pages:External links, then starting a discussion at Talk:Vatican City on why you think these links help the article. I am a bit concerned from what you wrote above that you may have a conflict of interest in adding the links, so reading WP:COI may also help you.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 17:10, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

User:PatPeter's Subpages

I really don't want to have to individually link every single article, but I was blocked about a year ago and have been unblocked for 6+ months. I was wondering if someone could restore all the red links on my userpage. I believe I removed all controversial subpages I might have had. The only non-userspace pages are Template:Babel2 and Template:AFK, Babel2 was priceless to me, and I do not remember the extent of AFK.

Babel2 was used by several users other than myself, I assume they have since removed the template, but it was a nice idea for Babel.

Is it a procedural deletion to delete the subpages of a blocked user? If not, then reasons would be that they are my subpages for those, and for Babel2 and AFK, that they were good ideas for templates, moreso Babel2, and restoring them to Template: namespace shouldn't do any harm.

-PatPeter 04:53, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

FWIW, it would be a lot easier on us if you listed the pages here instead of making us hunt them down. I don't see a problem with restoring the few I looked at, and will get to them bit by bit.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 21:50, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
I think I've got them all. If I missed any, please list them here.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 22:14, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

FWIW? And I thought it would be just as easy to just go to my page to restore the red links as if I listed them here, if not easier, most of my red links were in sections of their own anyway.

One that was deleted and changed in the past year was Template:Sleep, I don't know how it works but if you just restore the first versions of it I could probably nip the code and move it to Template:Sleeping.

You have my thanks Fabric, I am very glad to finally have a userpage not filled with red. I'll reply to your message on my talk page, then send you a {{talkback}}. -PatPeter 00:23, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

So any work on Template:Sleep and restoring edits? -PatPeter 04:08, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Also, I found that a number of my pages had talk pages deleted from them, combined with sleep:
Restoration appreciated, thanks again for all your hard work guys (or just Fabric). -PatPeter 22:27, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
Everything except the bits in {{Sleep}} restored. I'm not sure what to do w/ those. Can I copy/paste the last good revision of it and leave it in a post on your talk page? Protonk (talk) 04:45, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
Can't you restore all previous deletions of a page by going in the same interface you would to delete the page? If you just restored the edits on the page I can flip back through it and find the best edit, the most recent might not be the best because of all that has been done with it. -PatPeter 04:07, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
Problem is it is transcluded to a bunch of pages and when I restore the old revision it becomes the current revision until I change back to the now-current revision. I don't want like a hundred article pages w/ "this editor is sleeping" on them getting cached and what-not. Protonk (talk) 04:11, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
What if you deleted the template and then fully restore it? Since the red link would just negate all transclusions, when you restore it it should be exactly the same. -PatPeter 04:21, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Law Society (University College Dublin)

As the article itself shows, the UCD Law Society is one of the most well known student societies in Ireland. Past auditors of the society include two former Chief Justices, a former Irish Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and numerous other Irish legal and political figures. On top of that, many international dignitaries have been recipients of society honours. If the article contained excessive hyperbole it should have been edited. Its deletion was too drastic. It should also be noted that other student society pages remain undeleted such as the Trinity College Philosphical and Historical Societies and the Literary and Historical Society of University College Dublin. The Law Society, University College Dublin. UCDLawsoc (talk) 19:10, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

This article was deleted as a result of a community discussion (Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Law Society (University College Dublin) (2nd nomination)), so administrators don't have the authority to restore it. The main problem with the article was not that it was hyperbolic, but that the society lacks notability, which in Misplaced Pages terms means that it has not been shown that reliable independent sources (such as national broadsheet newspapers, academic journals or scholarly books) have written about the society.  Skomorokh  19:18, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the information. The deletion was so speedy that there wasn't time to obtain references to its notability - many of which are in subscription archives.

  • It weasn't that speedy, the article was listed for two weeks. you are always welcome to drop me a note on my talk page with any sources you can find Spartaz 19:39, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Done, all revisions of the article have been restored and moved to User:Sfxprefects/Shaun Rogerson. Please have a read of WP:BIO and WP:MUSIC and make sure the topic meets them before moving it back into the encyclopaedia; if it is not significantly improved, it will likely be quickly deleted again. ToonLoop : please undelete this page

It has been proposed for deletion since it was judged as having a Software with no assertion of notability. I did not remove the {{dated prod}} notice quickly enough. The page was deleted due to a procedural deletion (or PROD) then I don't need to explain why I want it back...

It should be restored since there are many sources on the Internet that mention this software. I will improve the article with some sources.

Here are some sources that mention ToonLoop :

Done by Protonk. It would be a good idea to read WP:Notability and add the sources which show how this software is notable. Otherwise the article runs the risk of being deleted again. HTH --Fabrictramp | talk to me 14:04, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

The Home Recording Show Podcast

Deleted because .. "15:11, 24 September 2009 Orangemike (talk | contribs) deleted "The Home Recording Show Podcast" ‎ (A7: Article about a web site, blog, web forum, webcomic, podcast, browser game, or similar web content, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject"

I would like a copy placed back in my user area so that I can revise it and make the content more acceptable to the administrators.

I have no relationship with the organisation etc. that the article is about. It is not about me or any organisation I am directly involved with I simply feel that the information is of value to people and should be made available.

Tat said I will look at the content and revise to include more "notability".

I'm contesting this deletion on the appropriate page. I need the talk page as well where I explained its notability. many thanks! Erich (talk) 05:21, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

  •  Not done That seems to be an accurate speedy deletion. The article itself didn't offer a reason why the site is important or signficant. We are looking for news coverage, salient points (like was it the first of something or the largest of something). The nature of the site doesn't really matter--for profit, not for profit, etc. If you would like the contents of the article sent to your userpage then I can do that for you, but in order to overturn the deletion we would have to send it to deletion review. I don't recommend you take it there unless there is available news coverage from the site or otherwise coverage from reliable sources. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. H2Olympia

My page was deleted using speedy delete. Thanks to input from wikipedians, I revised the text to, hopefully, document the notability of the group. One complication with the name of the group is that it went through a few name changes in the process of becoming a proper non-profit in the State of Washington. The group is referenced in several Olympia publications under it's various iteration of names, which, I hope I explained adequately in the article.

Please re-consider my page for inclusion.

THE REWRITE IS AT User:MemeGirl/H2Olympia

  • I would leave a message on the talk page of the deleting admin to see what they think (just as a heads up, it isn't required). In my opinion the article seems ok to go back in mainspace, but I would do a few things first. Tighten up the external links section, see WP:ELNO for some guidance. ensure the language reflects a neutral encyclopedia article. And lastly consider trimming some of the less important bits. Take my word for it, articles on small organizations that are barely notable fare better if they are short, neutral and free from excess external links. But otherwise it seems ok. Protonk (talk) 21:54, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
  • I left messages for the deleting admin after my first major re-write. I've completed two revision sessions based on input from wikipedians. I just incorporated the above suggested statements. What more need I do to get my page restored?

MemeGirl (talk) 14:06, 26 September 2009 (UTC) MemeGirl

If you think you've solved the problems that led to deletion, just move your rewrite back into mainspace using the move tab at the top of the page. Instructions are at WP:MOVE. HTH --Fabrictramp | talk to me 15:31, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

In the District Swabi the Section on the Village Marghuz

In the District Swabi the Paragraph on the Village Marghuz was already there since quite long (before we join Misplaced Pages). After we join the Misplaced Pages as the contributors/Editors we turned that Paragraph into a Proper Section & Edited that Paragraph into a Proper relatively detailed Information about the Geography, History & Notable Past & Present Personalities etc. of the Village Marghuz. Strangely our Extremely Hard Work of many many hours spanning over many many Days & Nights was just Deleted Witout any Prior Notice by the Misplaced Pages in a Fraction of Second???? This Approach of the Misplaced Pages is a Highly Discouraging Attitude of the Misplaced Pages. We are niether any Professional nor any Commercial Contributors/Editors. We have profound Experience of the Writing of the Scientific Research Papers in the the World Class Scientific Journals (in the Advanced World Countries) with the Highest Impact Factors in the Subject of our Expertise. So we definitely know how to write. We are already too much preoccupied in our Actual & Real Professions but still we try our best to get the time (by Killing our Rest Hours) to Built the Misplaced Pages as an Optimal Source of Information in any Walk of Life & never ever as a Source of our Advertisment. The 18 Year Old Virgin

It is a small film but the article on The 18 Year Old Virgin was fairly well written and clearly plenty of people had put good work into it. I do think the article would have survived an Article for Deletion process, I might be wrong but this article should not have been deleted without any oversight. I had only just edited the article shortly before it was deleted. Please make sure this article is given due process, it may have been a small low budget film but I believe it deserves a second look and should not have been hastily deleted. -- Horkana (talk) 03:04, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

18 Year Old Virgin – still there buddy. I've restored the other title and redirected it; feel free to dig through its brief history for anything useful. Cheers,  Skomorokh  03:14, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for restoring the other title, I hadn't realised that is what had happened. Don't know why someone felt it was useful to delete a harmless redirect. -- Horkana (talk) 18:16, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
No problem. They didn't delete it as a redirect, but as an article on its own merits ("no sources showing notability"); I created the redirect. Cheers,  Skomorokh  18:19, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Laura Sicurello

In December 2007, when this article was deleted, she was merely a loser on How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?, but now, she's Velma Dinkley in Scooby Doo and the Pirate Ghost, a touring show in the UK that's been going constantly since February. Is that a notable enough stage role? She has been interviewed by the press about the role. She's also playing Snow White in a production starting in December at Ferneham Hall. -- Zanimum (talk) 20:54, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

(ec - will look at the sources in a minute)It's really going to depend on how much significant coverage she's getting in independent, reliable sources. (WP:BIO will have more on this.) If you think there's enough out there that will solve the issues brought up at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Laura Sicurello, let us know here and we can move it to a subpage of your userpage so you can bring it up to snuff. --Fabrictramp | talk to me 20:59, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Comment on the sources above: the link to the Snow White flyer is a primary source, which doesn't show notability by itself. The first link might have merit, but I'm not familiar with that source, and little information is given in the link. Generally for interviews, it's best if the source is one with editors and professional contributors (think New York Times, not the free weekly shopper that publishes anything to fill space between the ads they sell.) Jay Jennings

http://en.wikipedia.org/User:Cptnono/Jay_Jennings

The article about this independent filmmaker/author has been reworked and many new reliable sources have been added to confirm its notability since it was first deleted back in August. Not only is he a forerunner of the Guerilla filmmaking movement, but his films have played at prominent film festivals such as SXSW and Silver Lake Film Festival and he has been the subject in many prominent newspapers and magazines, including The Beverly Hills Courier which is a major circulated and influential newspaper since 1965 and in "Films In Review" which is the oldest film publication in the United States dating back to 1909. The "Films In Review" article can be found here (middle of the page): http://www.filmsinreview.com/2005/06/01/camp-david-june-2005/). I can e-mail various hardcopy newspaper coverage to anyone who needs them.

As far as his work as an author and being one of the leading Knott's Berry Farm historians in the U.S., this was discussed on KOCE-TV "Real Orange" which is a member station of PBS (a prominent U.S. public TV station). You can view the interview here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jESiJEODVY0

He and his Knott's book were written about and covered twice in The Orange County Register which is the third highest circulated paid newspaper in California since 1905. More Knott's articles about him were written in "The Buena Park Independent" and Beverly Hills Courier. I can e-mail hardcopies of all these newspaper articles to anyone who needs them.

Here are the online links to both Orange County Register newspaper articles:

Knott's article #1: http://pedrowatcher.freedomblogging.com/2009/08/28/book-signing-history-of-knotts-berry-farm-in-200-rare-photos/9053/

Knott's article #2: http://headlines.ocregister.com/news/knott-39788-berry-farm.html

I was told privately by an administrator after he looked at the updated article, that, to him, it met the necessary requirements (i.e., WP:Reliable sources, WP:CITE, WP:N, WP:V, and at the very least, WP:BIO), and to post this undeletion request to see what others say.
