Method Man & Redman
Musical artist

Method Man & Redman, also known as Red & Meth, Doc & Meth or Mr. Meth and Funk Doc, are a hip hop duo, consisting of rap superstars Method Man (of Wu-Tang Clan) and Redman (of Def Squad). The duo, who've known each other since they were kids, reunited in 1994 on tour and met again in 1995 in the recording studio of 2Pac's "Got My Mind Made Up" for his multi-platinum album All Eyez on Me. After this they had friendly battles freestyling with each other on Yo! MTV Raps which led to their collaboration single How High. They recorded many tracks together until they finally released Blackout! in 1999. A 10 years reunion sequel, Blackout! 2 was released in 2009.

They also starred in a sitcom titled Method & Red, but they later disowned the series due to lack of creative control, which were done by FOX instead.

Blackout!: 1999-2001

They are both signed with the record label Def Jam. In September 1999, they released their first album, Blackout!, which they recorded in early 1999 while on the road as part of the hugely successful Hard Knock Life Tour, and promoted it during the Family Values Tour. In 2001, they starred together in the film How High. They were also on a sitcom together named Method & Red. They have worked together on numerous occasions as contributing artists.

Method Man often gives a shout out to Redman on tracks that do not feature Redman; this usually comes in the form of "What up, Doc!" referring to Redman's alias "Funk Doctor Spock".

Blackout! 2: 2007-present

On March 27 2007 Redman confirmed on BET's Rap City: Tha Bassment that the sequel to How High, How High 2, is currently being written.

In an April 10 2007 Onion AV Club interview , Redman hinted that there would be a second collaborative album with Method Man, with work beginning in midsummer or early September.

In early 2008, a remake of the Smoothe da Hustler and Trigger tha Gambler classic Broken Language was released to the internet by the duo entitled Broken Language 2008, fueling rumors of a Blackout! sequel coming soon. This rumor was further fueled by the duo while performing in Gainesville, FL at the University of Florida. A Blackout! 2 LP was scheduled for a December 9, 2008 release but was recently pushed back to the first quarter of '09. With a new release date on May 19, also a sequel to the very popular How High is in the process of being written and is to begin being filmed in the summer of '09. Bun B has confirmed that he will guest star on Blackout! 2 - in April 2009, a single has been released named City Lights, produced by Nasty Kutt Also producers such as Erick Sermon, Rockwilder, Pete Rock and DJ Premier have announced their presence on the album.

The duo is also currently on their Still High tour with Termanalogy, The Alchemist, & Evidence of Dilated Peoples.
