Born in a village in Kerala, India, Eknath Easwaran was an Indian-American professor, author, translator, and religious teacher. His translations of the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, and the Dhammapada are critially acclaimed. He was a personal acquaintance of Gandhi, and his philosophy could be considered an articulation of Gandhi's actions.
